The Nintendo Entertainment System is -sorta- coming back to stores

how long until someone takes the case apart and makes it a full-fledged PC
This is terrifying seeing relaunches of old consoles scare me that the corporations might go after emulator users due to the licenses now being enforced by corporations again.
I'm expecting this to be a very expensive and a waste of money to be honest.

Emulation itself is legal as far as I know, and it's even stated in the law at least in the US that emulation is a-okay. The only thing that I can see being cracked down upon is the usual pirated game copy, which is something hard to go after with hard evidence from users.
Well THIS is Nintendo we're talking about and seeing all these titles be back from the grave isn't really promising to be honest.
Sounds like a pretty cool thing to bring on trips, I think I'll get one.
Especially when people find out how to mod them.
Hopefully we'll get a snes

Its the exact same situation as its always been, legally speaking. Emulators are already clearly established to be legal. Its the distribution of ROMs that is the problem. But that's no news because the copyright on those games have always been in effect.
No one ever goes after individuals anymore. It costs too much time and money. They go after distributors.
Usually when copyrights from decades ago gets picked back up it adds basis to a necessity to expulge copyright justice to make sure they've got legal bounds with a renewal of the product in a modern market. Honestly though, whether it'd be either Nintendo itself or its' creators/publishers.
I just think this is a bit of a weird move in a world where emulators exist and it seems to its' trying to appeal to those who don't have the technological knowledge of emulators.

They're not exactly back from the grave, they've all been on the virtual console for ages.
People on twitter thinking it's the NX.. :speechless:
What the fuck is wrong with nintendo? Why do they keep on not including power adapters?
Either way, this looks pretty cool. Can't wait for ashens to review it. Wish Sony would do something similar with the ps1, as that's my nostalgia console of choice.
You can play all PS1 games on the PS3
Full MiniNES speedruns when?
You can play all PS1 games on the PS3
And quite a lot of them are available for $6 each on PSN.

Some people might not want to take the risk and a lot of my friends are console gamers. So something like this if you want to retro it up is great as it's really portable.
You can play all PS1 games on the PS3
I know, I got a bunch of them. The emulator on that system has real bad input lag though. I really wish there was a more convenient way to play them. PC emulators aren't too bad, but it's hard to get roms of some games, and it feels like you have to perform a satanic ritual everytime you want to set one up from fresh.
Edit:
That being said though I'm saying all this with the knowledge that I have a physical PS1, PS2, and a good chunk of the games I had as a child sitting around, and I also have access to a CRT TV as well.
No Duck Tales :saddowns:
Yeah, but we got a remaster of that one. I would have liked to see River City Ransom brought back, that was one of the best games to play with a friend.

In the early ones yeah

They stopped including emus a long time ago
This is pretty cool, though it seems just like a more official SOaC deal. I already have a flash cart for my NES so I don't really need this, but the HDMI output sounds neat.

Nah, you're thinking of the PS2 emulation. Every PS3 can do PS1, but only the first models of PS3 can do PS2, as those models have an actual complete PS2 in the shell with the rest of the hardware.
Sega Genesis has one exactly like this

I don't like it though because the audio is fucked up in some games, it can't keep saves (and because of this the console doesn't come with Sonic 3), and the controllers are battery wireless only
Here's hoping Nintendo does it better
I like how Nintendo is acknowledging Star Tropics by including it. Underrated RPG that everyone should play

That was made by a third party using Sega's license, this NES mini is being made 100% by Nintendo
I've been waiting for something like this for a long time.
Glad to see they're actually doing it.
The Facebook post says it's $60 :godzing:
God Nintendo, you really want my money here

This was a hardware-level issue too, the final revision of the Genesis console (the Genesis 3) was dubbed the "Stinker" because of its awful colors and sound.
For the NES Mini, this will be a Nintendo-quality piece of hardware, and the controllers are wired. (Note the connector is a Wii Remote aux port, that NES controller will work on '06 Wiis too!)

[sp]PLEASE NINTENDO, make an N64 like this with a cart slot
K just bring back the N64 is that ok? thx[/sp]
Now imagine if they added eShop support to re-download other NES games you bought on the 3DS and Wii U
If it's $100 (seen that and $60) I'll definitely wait for it to be hacked into an ultimate snes emulator before picking this up
I wonder if it'll be like that Neo Geo reboot, literally running roms off an SD card
At least it'll be basically impossible for them to fuck up NES emulation though right?
If it's that easy it's worth the money
I wonder if this was a plan before and that's why they started killing rom libraries with C&D

Great and I already forgot which ps1 games I wanted
Spider-man maybe? I still remember the ps2 games I have and want to play though...
If you still have your old cartridges lying around you can just get a Super Retro Trio that apparently plays them all.

Thes things are cheap piles of shit that don't even play certain games, and what games they do play have visual and audio inaccuracies. not worth the money. Just pay a higher price and get the original hardware.

If you've never played them hit up the Spyro games, especially 2, and also get MediEvil. Those are some of the best games of that era.
I would suggest MGS too, but something tells me you may have played it already.
I played Spyro as a kid, have riptos rage and mgs on Classics aswell as Star Wars dark forces.
I wish mine had ps2, I just wanna play punisher
[editline]14th July 2016[/editline]
And spider-man 3 and my mortal kombat and spawn games
It has Super C on it but not Contra :what:
It has Super C on it but not Contra :what:
this is how it is on the virtual console, we got Super C on the 3ds but not Contra
