That's a really unneeded step though
It was part of their anti-piracy system, but they've pretty much acknowledged that was a poor way to do it. They had a good reason for it tbh. But at least now they're working to fix it instead of ignoring it.
I'm still confused on why all consoles just don't embrace steam into their OS core image. I'm pretty sure if Microsoft or Sony embraced steam and ran games from people's steam accounts it would fucking amazing. But who cares anymore, steam is coming out with their own console with digital downloads \,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/

They are just Mini-PCs, also no one is being forced to use SteamOS. Oh and it's still in beta and completely unfinished and Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo don't really need it. \,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/\,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/\,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/\,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/\,,,/ (-_-) \,,,/
As long as you contact NoA, who actually give a damn about the customer, you have a pretty good chance of gettting your purchased games on a new system.
cause honestly who in this modern age of smartphone apps wants to carry around a bunch of cartridges?
cause honestly who in this modern age of smartphone apps wants to carry around a bunch of cartridges?
With a Card Case 18, I wouldn't mind. Even on handhelds, it's nice to have physical.
just watch, nintendo will fuck this up somehow. i still think they need to give NoA the power they used to have, the entire Wii U situation can be pinned on that.
cause honestly who in this modern age of smartphone apps wants to carry around a bunch of cartridges?
I don't necessarily want to carry them around but I sure like having them. There is something nice about having physical media.
With a Card Case 18, I wouldn't mind. Even on handhelds, it's nice to have physical.
"Even on handheld" I'm not even used to them on home platforms thanks to Steam.
That's you. I use Steam as much as the next guy and I still prefer physical when possible for my consoles, with a few exceptions.
It was part of their anti-piracy system, but they've pretty much acknowledged that was a poor way to do it. They had a good reason for it tbh.
Wait anti piracy drm is "a good reason" now?
Rewarding frequent customers with discounts? I like where this is going.
Sounds like something Gamestop should do. Oh wait they like money too much. I took a quiz as an employee once, and one of the questions was like "What do you NOT do if someone is trying to rob the store" A: Protect the customers B: Hide C: -can't remember- D: Give them the keys Answer: D They want you to put your life or the customers lives on the line to protect THE KEYS. God forbid they steal stuff and let everyone live.
Wait anti piracy drm is "a good reason" now?
In a way it is, but unlike other companies they admitted they were wrong and are working to fix it. [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] They had piracy issues with the DS and Wii so I guess they came up with a "clever" way to make sure people actually owned the games they played. It tied in with Miiverse too, people who owned the game would have check boxes in their posts verifying that they owned the game.

I don't see why not. Painseeker, who is from the UK iirc, in the 3DS megathread is in contact with NoA who are apparently more than willing to help him fix his issue.

I think NoA is the only part of Nintendo who is aware of what is going on and knows that other divisions aren't really doing what they should be. Their support is pretty friendly from the couple of times I had to contact them.
Rewarding frequent customers with discounts? I like where this is going.
If steam did this I would practically get games free in the winter and the summer :v:
NoA's support is great; probably the best in the whole industry. I've had to contact them many times over the years for various reasons, and they've always been very professional and helpful. They've even bent the rules a couple times when it meant that much more of a helping hand, like the time they still repaired my DSi for free (and tacked on the customary new year of warranty afterwards) even when it was a month out of warranty. You won't find EA doing that.
That fucking serious banana face.

I think he was trying to say that EA wouldn't take care about a customer's issue like that.
I do hope that they get this right. A lot of Nintendo offers and account settings are linked towards your region, so I hope they will make it more universal and workable for all the regions.
