Motorcyclists need to live by that, I know I'm going to. Sure some make the excuse "I'm only going down the road for 2 minutes". Its still a risk I would not take in favour of convenience.

The idea behind mandatory helmet laws is to make people look less cool when riding motorcycles, thus reducing the number of assholes on the roadway.

It's the same deal with seat belts.
The police don't want to scrap your corpse off the pavement if you crash into a wall at 50mph and get smeared over the highway for 200 feet, same deal with helmets; they don't want to wash brains off the highway.
Then you get into the whole deal with people with children; what if they don't wear their helmet, and get into a fatal crash where a helmet could have saved them and not orphaned the kids/left them with just one parent?
Reminds me of the vehemently anti-seat belt guy who got ejected out of his car while his friends all loved.

I don't see how it's a waste of time, it's legally required to wear PPE at manufacturing, construction and other site where there might be dangerous circumstance, why should a car or motorcycle be any different?

I'd imagine that if it were legal, insurance companies wouldn't pay out if you did cripple yourself while not wearing a helmet anyway, so it's kind of moot.
