Theres also a fair number of right wing fellas in various places in europe, lots of them for some reason identify with neo-nazism. Jews are blamed for lots of financial troubles in the world and lots of these groups don't like jews.
Blaming muslims is just a cop out from dealing with the real issues. And dangerous too!
Lol.
How much do you want to bet me that when and if they find the perp he's a Somalian Muslim, not some neo-nazi?

You could pm a mod and tell them to ban you if it is not a Somalian Muslim if you like?
You're not doing yourself any favours by specifying which country they need to come from.
What sickens me are people who take ratings seriously.
Oh look, I rated it artistic. I'm such a sick fuck.
Seriously, who cares?
You said it yourself, people take ratings seriously. People are using ratings to actually express their views that this is a good this. It's not ratings that people care about, it's that a sizable portion of facepunch actually thinks that someone should be beat nearly to death with a metal rod for raising the Israeli flag.
Nope, it is demons that are.
My +5 Sword of Walt Disney is super effective against your Jewish warlock!

The crime happened in Seved. An area inhabitated by mostly immigrants. The area is also known for gang violence. This isnt some "neo-nazi" attack.
Sweden is having a bit of trouble over acceptance of the huge variety of races and religions in it at the moment, it's initial acceptance has led to muslims and jews and all sorts of middle eastern people thriving in Sweden, and they dont seem to have left their prejudices in their own countries, not to mention the nationalists who dont want any foreigners in their country at all.
These are of course minorities, as in any other country.

I admit you could be right about the Muslim thing depending on area. But muslims aren't the only group who have it out for jews.
he should've expected to be beaten by an iron rod for raising a flag?
No but he should have expected some sort of reaction given the timing.
I live in Malmö. For some reason people, like the OP, seem to think this is the worst place ever. All cities have bad neighborhoods. Still terrible that this happened, but honestly, what did he expect? Raising a flag in a time like this with all of the kidnappings and shit happening in Israel.
On the surface, yes. In reality, no.
I don't understand what you're saying.
The kidnappings were of Israeli teenagers, how is raising the Israeli flag 'in a time like this' should warrant him expecting to get beaten with an iron rod? What 'time' are you referring to, exactly?
We kind of dislike nationalists of any kind though, it's seen as a very bad thing to raise a Swedish flag and raising another country's flag is at times more accepted :v:
that's extremely dumb
Yes we are quite tolerant population as a whole, this would be an exception. Even if most people are tolerant, there will always be some few who aren't.

wrong, there are swedish flags everywhere, and we don't dislike nationalists, we only dislike loud racists who think that sweden somehow belongs to them and them only.

What? That's not really true. Sure, i guess some people (and when I say some people, I mean FEW people) feel that, but I think that there are more idiots actually thinking that raising your own country's flag is offensive because they are worried they are gonna be labeled racists or some shit. most of the time people are making this shit up as an excuse to push forward their "i'm not racist, but" crap
The reason most people don't have their swedish flags up are because they are fucking living in the country they are currently residing in. What's the point?

And so much hate for Malmö... the city has it's bad parts but what the fuck - what city doesn't?
it's like people are making it worse than a dark alleyway in new york or something, holy shit
i live here and most gang related shit people are talking about i sleep through. it has never bothered me.
Of course antisemitism is high when half of the people are arabs
I think this is true even though you could have written it in a nicer way. I have lived in Malmö for my entire life and at the age of 19 I started working at Kroksbäckskolan, a school that shares its building with SFI (Swedish for immigrants). Probably around 60 % of all the people there were arabs from different parts of the world. Most of the people there were very nice towards me and I made a few friends. However, I have never heard or seen so much racism and prejudice as I did during my time there. (especially towards jews and african people.) I'm not saying that we don't have a problem with neo-nazism and nationalism in Malmö, but I think that a lot of the hatred we see and hear about is actually due to a lot of people from different cultural/religious groups living so close to eachother. I would also like to point out that even though a lot of crap happens here, I think that Malmö is a pretty nice place that gets a lot more shit from the media than it deserves.

Malmö houses the worst of them, however.

A Palestinian boy was also burned alive. Both sides are even more on edge than usual. Again, never said he should expect a beating. But using common sense he should have anticipated a reaction of some sort.
What the fuck? Isn't Sweden like the most tolerant country ever?
From personal experience, Europe as a whole is racist as fuck actually. My buds and I (3 whites + 1 canadian born & raised indian) backpacked across europe last year; Hungary to Austria to Germany to belgium.
In budapest, 2 bars refused to let us in because of our friend. Oh man, austria and germany. They were all polite but not necessarily nice. In Graz we almost got into a bar fight because some douchebag poured his beer all over him, like super intentionally 'oh, i almost tripped let me pour my beer all over you while my friends burst into laughter'. In bavaria everybody gave our friend dirty looks as if they've never seen a non-white person before (specially in Augsburg). In stuttgart an old dude got on the half empty bus and asked our indian friend to get up and give him his seat without realizing we were with him. When we confronted him, he backed off and mumbled something in german. Dirty looks in belgium too.
I'm not saying all europeans are racist, we met a lot of nice people too. However, anybody that says North Americans are racist hasn't been to europe.

No matter where you go, there will still be scumbags

I don't want to destroy your credibility or anything but that's overgeneralizing as fuck. It's really fucking random with clubs and bars. Some are friendly and some are assholes.
Still I do agree that Bavaria is pretty old school and dislike foreigners and so is Austria depending on the regions but that's probably due to history.
Please elaborate.
When it comes to gang-related violence and general criminality, Malmö is the worst, or at the very least, one of the worst cities in Sweden.

nazism is dumb. you can say that.
But the day you can't put up your own fucking flag is the day it's all gone too far.

relax, nobody is telling you that you can't put a flag up. it's just frowned upon; nobody's oppressing you with their opinions, nothing has gone too far lol
nationalism, however, serves nobody and only seeks to oppress.

idk about your countries but this whole circus about "derp i cant even raise muh flag" is false sorry to burst everyone's bubble
no it's not generally frowned upon
no it's not racist you can even graft it onto your head if you feel like it
and most importantly
no one cares

It's dumb that it'd be "frowned upon" to be proud of your nation.
It's dumb that it'd be "frowned upon" to be proud of your nation.
If it is however the case that the claim that it's "frowned upon" was an overstatement, then OK
my bad, i didn't realise that was the case in sweden. i was mostly referring to this guy's post:
Yes we are quite tolerant population as a whole, this would be an exception. Even if most people are tolerant, there will always be some few who aren't.

regardless, my point was that nationalism is shit. which it is. though if anyone would like to justify nationalism as a concept, be my guest, i'm all ears.
It's dumb that it'd be "frowned upon" to be proud of your nation.
National pride is useless and only further reinforces the "us vs. them" mentality that divides us as a species. Arbitrary lines on a map already do that well enough, thank you, we don't need dick-measuring contests between people who were born into their nation by pure happenstance.

I don't know about you but I believe there is a positive attitude towards nationalism. What's wrong with being proud of your history, culture, food or achievements? As long as you don't consider other nations as scum.

anti-nationalists are honestly some of the most tedious fellows on the planet, aren't they?
It is possible to be overly nationalistic, but at the same time it is also permissible to be nationalistic to a good extent, one which is beneficial, promoting a successful state. Nationalism isn't inherently useless. What's fucking useless is dramatic assholes criticizing people for flying their own goddamn flags.

what is an anti-nationalist's view of the Fourth of July?
