I have came to the conclusion that the F in FOXCONN stands for Fucktard.
As if the fact it has FOX and CON in the beginning doesn't sound alarms.

As has been previously stated, there is temporary unemployment created from these actions that is quickly offset by more employment in other fields.
this will make technology cheaper in the long run so I'm ok with it
This is fucking retarded.
Instead of spending god knows how much money on robots and making hundreds of thousands if not millions of people unemployed and thus even further fucking up the economy, spend money to make the employee's hate their job less. Install some goddamn windows, pump some music into the manufacturing floor, give them longer breaks or company sponsored luncheons. Nothing fancy but christ almighty, a happy workforce is an efficient workforce.

A lot of jobs will be created in order to produce these robots.
i've always wondered when this would begin to happen
I thought this only happens in movies and cartoons... Lets rebel before they start to take over the world!
A lot of jobs will be created in order to produce these robots.
it's still more than likely a net loss of jobs, and eventually the construction of robots will be automated
i've always wondered when this would begin to happen
I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened sooner
if robots did everything for us we wouldnt need jobs
A lot of jobs will be created in order to produce these robots.
No where near as many as that will be lost and robots can make robots.
if robots did everything for us we wouldnt need jobs
Sounds like an awesome future filled with traveling and robot shaken martinis.
Dey took our jerbs!
foxconn doesn't use child labor but it has suicide enduing working environments (see foxconn suicides). the people that work there are beautiful.
it's still more than likely a net loss of jobs, and eventually the construction of robots will be automated
Actually, it will just lead to growth in other areas, not specifically robotics manufacturing.

That doesn't make it any clearer. I'm still confused.
Oh boy, i've saw this a mile away... this will cause more unemployment for factories, so it's best not to spam so much automation facilities or you going to have unemployment problems left and right. If they are going towards this direction of automated facilities, I recommend they keep it capped like 25% of facilities in the USA be automated, while 75% are human labor Facilities.
I wonder how much they will actually pay people who maintain these facilities. it can't really all be automated, someone got to repair these machines from rusting and mal-functioning machines.
keep it capped like 25% of facilities in the USA be automated, while 75% are human labor Facilities
But that means we will stop advancement and efficiency for economic sakes and I think thats wrong.

People have always been terrified that machines will steal their jobs and increase unemployment, particularly in the manufacturing industry. This has never been the case.
This has never been the case.
Well yea automation has just started to really taking over industry. You can't just say everything will work out fine because nothing bad happened before. Unless there are jobs that can take its place (and don't say building robots) there will be a lot of people with free time on there hands.
No, the market simply shifts and new jobs become available in other industries.
Other industries? There are few industries that can't become automated. Even the medical industry is slowly becoming automated. Besides things like doctor, teacher, politician or artist a lot of jobs are going to be taken over and not everyone can be one of those. Its going to get to the point where we aren't going to let everyone be a doctor because we don't need any more.
Actually robot politicians would be pretty cool.
Pretty soon the only job left will be designing the next generation of robots. Which is kind of awesome. Prices will be driven so far down people barely need to work to get everything they need. But until that happens we're stuck in this wonderful middle ground of actual real world today and INCREDIBLE TECHNO-UTOPIA where the implementation of awesome things that should be making lives better is actually making lives worse.
And then Matrix happens.

By definition a utopia will never evolve, but in this machines will keep on evolving and are daily lives will never stop getting more awesome. We should do what ever we can to get past this middle ground and start looking at the awesome robohooker future.
Reminds me of I,Robot.
I'll just leave this here: http://www.marshallbrain.com/manna1.htm
Our system is so awesome that replacing shitty jobs with robots is actually bad for people lol
No?
Robots don't steal jobs, neither do low skilled workers. They just shift around labor. How many jobs were lost during the Industrial Revolution? Automated car factories? How many jobs were lost to the invention of the wheel, those poor, poor people lugging around stones with their bare hands won't have anything to do anymore.
A shame, that.
