He means the sales are on the verge of collapse. last time I checked, industry = production unless ofcourse he thinks that everyone will stop making music if they can't get money from it
it's finally the artists turn to make money themselves also, the internet is a great way for cutting out the middle-man (so to say). only left is artists and consumers/fans
