it's finally the artists turn to make money themselves
also, the internet is a great way for cutting out the middle-man (so to say). only left is artists and consumers/fans

It probably wont. Thom is being beyond optimistic here. Record industry will collapse, but not soon enough to validate his statements.
Your bands will stay the same, and probably be better off for this change.
