I am pretty amazed they spotted something so tiny, NASA is really on the ball. Just the thought of a robot millions of miles away on another world stopping to investigate a small piece of something is amazing even if it is just from a the rover/desent mechanism.

It looks like a small, but dead slug or snail, with a metallic armor that they would slowly develop to protect themselves from UV rays.
