ATTN Retards: It hasn't been known as the Freedom Tower since 2009, its actual name is One World Trade Center, but please don't let reality get in the way of your circle jerk.
it is, however, 1776 feet tall
"Two of the four World Trade Center buildings have been completed, and 5 million square-feet of office space has already been leased." ok i read these to the articles what the fk ** ? 9/11 was only 2 tower that why the have call it TWIN tower exploded , why the article say the have 4 building exploded by airplane . whoever person that write that need to research more
The World Trade Center complex was 9 buildings in 2001.
I walked around the complex last night, security is really tight so it's kind of weird, but it's fantastic. They're also making a new subway station adjacent to it that is supposed to resemble a bird(but looks like a stegosaurus), and it's really beautiful on the inside. By the way, don't know if it's been mentioned but the freedom tower is 1776 feet tall.

It's just futuristic and modern and that's appealing to me. :v: Either way, it still is going to have the badass light beam that shoots from the roof right?
Isn't it pretty normal time frame for a building this size?
13 years? Or how long are you referring to? Because that's a really long time. WTC 1 and 2 went up in about 3 years. The tallest building in the world took 6 years. Cleanup of ground zero took 2 years. That's understandable. But from a fresh slate to One World Trade Center took 11 years which is a long ass time. Lots of political nonsense went on over the site which delayed building time.

would be neat if they had some kind of SAM launcher hidden at the top yeah yeah it's a bit whimsical but you never know
I've never been in New York. I've always wanted to visit it. My memories of it were sitting in front of the TV when I was five, watching cartoons and just being surprised when the breaking news report interrupted the adventures of some of my favorite characters and threw a bucket of reality at my face. Every year on this day I've always felt something in my heart. I don't know what it was, really. Every year I rewatch the footage. And every year, I feel scared. I'm eighteen years old now, and I'm still scared. But at the same time, I want to reach out, to somehow give those scared people a semblance of hope, to help them get through what was a shitty day for them. Like for some reason the ramblings of a Brazillian kid would make them happier. But this year... I'm watching the footage, and I know what comes later, and I still feel a tingle in my skin, yet I see this piece of news, and I see that gif, and I see other pieces of news like the one about how the ozone layer is recovering, and I look at myself and at the future and at the world I'm living in and for the first time, I'm not that scared. I feel like that building is a sign that no matter what hits us, human beings have the perseverance to stand and build it back up. And that, more than anything, makes me excited for what is just around the corner. Phew. Feels good to get that out of my chest.
I do not know how old I was but I was in elementary school and I got home to the news and footage. I do not think I cried or anything but I felt bad and was scared. Now whenever I read about it, or about people talking about it, or see it I just start to tear up.
the new wtc looks really fucking impressive standing right up next to it, i took these pictures when i was in nyc a couple months ago [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/tKWiZws.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZPyD7p0.jpg[/thumb] also the oculus transport hub looked like a robot kaiju spine when it was under construction [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/YBBSJxl.jpg[/thumb]
We're laughing because people called it the silliest, most american way of thinking ever. Like, if my country made a building called Codfish tower.
It's a good think its not called the Freedom tower then isnt it.
also the oculus transport hub looked like a robot kaiju spine when it was under construction [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/YBBSJxl.jpg[/thumb]
What if that's what the complex is?
