I'm sorry I didn't make that clearer, but what I meant is that if you have a valid drivers license that should be proof of citizenship.
no you shouldn't have to prove yourself to not be guilty of a crime it doesn't work that way first the crime then the charge, not the other way around. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
Hey guys, when you're debating over something, insulting the other person indicates that you're either running out of argument or you just can't argue maturely.
says you internet debates without insults are like bread without butter
Life isn't fair and it never will be, get used to it kiddo. Also hur dur sorry to spoil the party but immigration bills aren't just for Mexicans.
You're on the internet so I imagine you have seen like half the fucking threads here being about civil rights.
no you shouldn't have to prove yourself to not be guilty of a crime it doesn't work that way first the crime then the charge, not the other way around. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline] So showing your driver's license will cause you such an inconvenience? People need to work together to bring progress into the world. says you internet debates without insults are like bread without butter

what a stupid cop-out "we want civil rights, it's not fair" "get used to it darkie!" [editline]9th June 2011[/editline] bahahha what does TH89 have to do with anything
Of course you'd jump to the race card and use it for "it isn't fair." Hell I meant it in a different way, but if that is how you want to see it and make me look like a racist dick, be my guest. You can live in la la land thinking everyone gets magical trinkets and everyone has liberty and equality, but we don't live in that world. Just thinking in a realist point of view.
TH89 is in this thread. Otherwise I would say what I want to.
TH89 is no longer a mod, feel free to express your opinion!
So showing your driver's license will cause you such an inconvenience? People need to work together to bring progress into the world.
i'm just gonna assume you meant to post that outside the quote brackets no i don't think forcing people to prove they didn't do a crime is progress it's like saying to someone "okay prove you didn't steal this car"
no you shouldn't have to prove yourself to not be guilty of a crime it doesn't work that way first the crime then the charge, not the other way around. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline] says you internet debates without insults are like bread without butter
Wow dude, now you're just getting ridiculous. You're driving without a drivers license and a police officer can not verify your identity and you don't think that is a legit reason to verify your citizenship? I mean seriously, DRIVING without a LICENSE that can't be found in the DMV computer and there's absolutely no reason to get that idea?
i'm just gonna assume you meant to post that outside the quote brackets no i don't think forcing people to prove they didn't do a crime is progress it's like saying to someone "okay prove you didn't steal this car"
What the heck do you think registration is for in a traffic stop?!?!?!
i'm just gonna assume you meant to post that outside the quote brackets no i don't think forcing people to prove they didn't do a crime is progress it's like saying to someone "okay prove you didn't steal this car"
That's called going to court. You have to provide evidence that you didn't commit a crime. So to prove you didn't break a law by coming here illegally you just have to flash your ID or something.
Of course you'd jump to the race card and use it for "it isn't fair."
that's not what race card means. at least get your conservative talk-radio buzzwords right when you use them.
Hell I meant it in a different way, but if that is how you want to see it and make me look like a racist dick, be my guest. You can live in la la land thinking everyone gets magical trinkets and everyone has liberty and equality, but we don't live in that world. Just thinking in a realist point of view.
your realist view is stupid. i don't live in la la land where everyone has liberty and equality. i live in a world where i feel i have to stand up for liberty and equality.
Question, did I ever say I didn't care? No? Thanks for playing.
Why are you constantly belittling people in your posts? Calling them "kiddo"? "Thanks for playing"?
That's called going to court. You have to provide evidence that you didn't commit a crime. So to prove you didn't break a law by coming here illegally you just have to flash your ID or something.
no how court works is that they charge you with something and try to prove that you did commit a crime. the defendant doesn't get charged with something and has to prove their way out of it. learn how courts work unless you are being daft on purpose.
no how court works is that they charge you with something and try to prove that you did commit a crime. the defendant doesn't get charged with something and has to prove their way out of it. learn how courts work unless you are being daft on purpose.
So if I have evidence that proves I'm innocent I should just not bring it up? ok
that's not what race card means. at least get your conservative talk-radio buzzwords right when you use them. your realist view is stupid. i don't live in la la land where everyone has liberty and equality. i live in a world where i feel i have to stand up for liberty and equality.
Actually, race card-means bringing the issue of race into something so yes, try again. And I agree with you, and just because I see the world in a realist manner doesn't mean I don't stand up for such things as liberty and equality.
Wow dude, now you're just getting ridiculous. You're driving without a drivers license and a police officer can not verify your identity and you don't think that is a legit reason to verify your citizenship?
no driving without a drivers license is different because that means the police officer saw you committed a crime using his testimony as a proof in court. i don't think it's a legit version to verify your citizenship because i don't feel it has anything to do with them. like i said i reject the notion of illegal citizenship being a heinous crime.
What the heck do you think registration is for in a traffic stop?!?!?!
i don't think traffic stops are good either.
i don't think traffic stops are good either.
I love you. You make me laugh. =) Just in case, by traffic stop I mean getting pulled over for speeding/running a red light/smashing into another car.
So if I have evidence that proves I'm innocent I should just not bring it up? ok
yeah dude that's totally what i said, thanks for demonstrating your amazing reading comprehension.
Why are you constantly belittling people in your posts? Calling them "kiddo"? "Thanks for playing"?
Well you could call me an asshole, I wouldn't mind it. One could say I am cynical?
i don't think traffic stops are good either.
What? So a cop can't pull you over now either?
Actually, race card-means bringing the issue of race into something so yes, try again.
no not really i was using an example. i could use women's rights and it would be the same thing.
And I agree with you, and just because I see the world in a realist manner doesn't mean I don't stand up for such things as liberty and equality.
then why the fuck are you trying to paint me as being in la la la land for saying we should have civil rights. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
What? So a cop can't pull you over now either?
not if they don't see me commit a crime. i sometimes drive through this one super-rich neighborhood to get to this awesome record shop and they always fucking stop me and ask where i am going. i always say "to the recordshop" and they just go "okay, well move along". it's annoying and it probably has something to do with my banged up ghetto vehicle.
no not really i was using an example. i could use women's rights and it would be the same thing. then why the fuck are you trying to paint me as being in la la la land for saying we should have civil rights.
I jumped the gun and made an assumption out my own arrogance and cynicism? Or I am just an asshole.
by traffic stop I mean getting pulled over for speeding/running a red light/smashing into another car.
okay well that's different but i don't think a traffic violation should have anything to do with immigration and customs. that's not their business. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
I jumped the gun and made an assumption out my own arrogance and cynicism? Or I am just an asshole.
well smoke a fag and chill the fuck out
okay well that's different but i don't think a traffic violation should have anything to do with immigration and customs. that's not their business.
He never said it did. But having a driver's license proves you are a citizen because of the documents needed to get a license. So showing off the license if you are pulled over by an officer helps to remove unneeded conflict.
okay well that's different but i don't think a traffic violation should have anything to do with immigration and customs. that's not their business. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
Okay, I can understand where you're coming from, but I respectfully disagree. We all require licenses to operate vehicles so it sounds to me like one of the best and fair ways to weed out illegal immigrants. The citizenship check would only happen if you didn't have a license. You'd already be going to court for driving without a license ya know? But okay cool.
It seems here we all need to smoke a fag and chill the fuck out.
okay well licenses are another issue. either way yes the immigration process should be made easier but i disagree with the notion that illegal immigration is bad purely based on the prospect that it is illegal. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
It seems here we all need to smoke a fag and chill the fuck out.
i quit years ago, have one on me
okay well that's different but i don't think a traffic violation should have anything to do with immigration and customs. that's not their business.
A cop sees you run a red light, pulls you over and sees you smoking crack. He arrests you. A cop sees you run a red light, pulls you over and puts your name in the computer. You're an illegal immigrant. He arrests you. If a policeman catches you doing something illegal you're arrested. The method defined in the bill puts too much power to the police however.
Does anybody from another country want to go to Alabama, much less know it exists?
Maybe some bands can start boycotting Alabama and come back to fucking Arizona I want me some Kanye West up in this bitch
not if they don't see me commit a crime. i sometimes drive through this one super-rich neighborhood to get to this awesome record shop and they always fucking stop me and ask where i am going. i always say "to the recordshop" and they just go "okay, well move along". it's annoying and it probably has something to do with my banged up ghetto vehicle.
you should have told them that you don't legally need to answer that question so you'll remain silent instead
