So Sony rips off even more ideas from other companies and tries to pass it as original.
touchpads are pretty much a standard nowadays. complaining about that is like complaining about it having buttons
Change the title OP; this is just a rumor. Plus there are a lot of inconsistencies. I call fake [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] Also, that's a terrible design to be using a stylus on. Good luck trying to use the stylus on the screen while having the buttons out. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
is that so hard to believe? It won't be that powerful, but to think it's not going to be powerful is stupid. Do you even know anything about technology today?
Of course it's hard to believe. It's really not possible for it to be as powerful as the PS3, given current technology. We can't really expect it to be an incredibly powerful device either. If they really push it on the graphical capabilities, the battery life will suffer. Battery technology has barely progressed at all in years, so they have to reach a balance given their limitations. The 3DS is a fairly powerful device (lookie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RKFhMFrv_w ) but because of this we have to settle with an average battery life of around 4-6 hours (which is pretty good given the current state of batteries, and it's about as long as the PSP lasts). I wouldn't expect the PSP2 to be that much different.
Look like shit.
More like PSP2 3D!
Sony are like, "hey guys, buy our more expensive machine with features ripped from the <insert-nintendo-device> and with worse games, but with better graphics" It will always be the way.
Looks like they downgraded.
Prefer the original fat version. Lot better in the hand compared to the newer ones.
um yea sure
It'll be able to display graphics that look just as good as those on the PS3 due to the difference in resolution/screen size They won't be the same, technically, but it won't matter because you won't be able to tell the difference.
Damn. Does that mean I have to buy my games again? Part of the reason I've been waiting is that my PSP has been worn out for a while now, and the slim and go didn't seem worth it if I couldn't play the UMD's I have.
I hope Dark_Alex gets his hands on one so we have another great homebrew scene
Bluray UMDs :science:
BluMDs.
Finally two analog sticks after 3-4 different models.
Those were models of the PSP 1 - which was intended to only have one stick.
Those were models of the PSP 1 - which was intended to only have one stick.
Which everyone agreed was a stupid idea, and now they've finally righted that wrong.
There was absolutely NO POINT for the psps after the original fat one other than extended battery life.
>2 joysticks MOTHER OF GOD
Meh. Only good thing about the design is the 2 analogs, but I still like PSP's old design.
Hopefully Logitech will make a UMD adapter for this. I don't want to have to re buy the few games on UMD I have.
Looks more like PSPGO 2.
Hopefully Logitech will make a UMD adapter for this. I don't want to have to re buy the few games on UMD I have.
I highly doubt that would happen. Especially since the PSPGo isn't UMD compatible, and Sony said that they were ditching UMDs for good. Not to mention that there's no way that this is going to be backwards-compatible besides just DLC material from PSN.
It can't be as powerful as the PS3. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if it was even feasible. The cooling alone would be unmanageable for that small a space. It will however be more or as powerful as the PS2 I think.
Too bad they ditch UMD, because of that i'm not getting a PSP 2
could very well rival the Xbox 360 in horsepower
Whaaaaaa?
Whaaaaaa?
The 360 isn't exactly powerful. It's the equivalent to computers from 2003.
It looks like a Go. It has the same trade-offs as a Go. Chances are.... It's an upgraded Go, and even if that's the case, this isn't the official release.
It can't be as powerful as the PS3. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if it was even feasible. The cooling alone would be unmanageable for that small a space.
Whaaaaaa?
The only thing that allows the 360 to run current gen games (or any other console for that matter) is that games are designed specifically to run on that platform. With PC's the designers don't know what specs they'll be running with particularly so they have to domb down the game so it will run on the dichotomy of systems. The 360 is much cheaper because it only has a 3.2 GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon, 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM clocked at 700 MHz, and a 500 MHz ATI Xenos GC. My PC or laptop by comparison would blow it out of the water, but games are designed specifically to run EXACTLY on a 3.2 ghz PPC, 512 MB of ram and a 500 Mhz ATI Xenos. They are optimized to run on that system with that exact configuration. The 360 also eliminates overhead because games are the only thing running, no OS, anti virus, etc. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
It has enough power to have PS3 games to still look like PS3 games on a small screen.
Point, a smaller Res could allow it to run better, but still, I think, with battery life, price and others, I don't see it being PS3 powerful.
PSP phone.
Point, a smaller Res could allow it to run better, but still, I think, with battery life, price and others, I don't see it being PS3 powerful.
It'd be a wasted opportunity to have so much power, considering that the screen might probably be 800x480..
I hope Dark_Alex gets his hands on one so we have another great homebrew scene
I don't think this should happen till like 5 years after its release, since if it gets the PSP treatment from him, then developers won't make games for the PSP2 either, and there really would be no point to get this. Besides, I like buying games and supporting the companies.
According to Sony, it's supposed to be like as powerful/more powerful than the PS3.
Enjoy grilling your hands.
