Hi, we're Germany. No, we haven't heard of these 'Nar-zees'. Who are they? They sound awful let's stop anybody knowing they ever existed. There's being apologetic for the atrocities your predecessors committed (which shouldn't really extend beyond 'We don't agree with what they did and we think it was horrible'), but there's a point reached where you seem to be trying too hard. Germany has long surpassed this point.
It's a bit like that with Neo-Nazis maybe, they are problematic in some regions but most of the time nobody talks about it. The originals? I doubt there's any place without some form of reminder in less than a one, maybe two, kilometre radius. Some cities are cramped with memorials to the point where you see one every hundred meters or less (if you pay attention, they are usually relatively small). National pride is still usually not completely socially acceptable though, with few exceptions like sports where it's completely OK. That's also the reason why you rarely see the German flag in broadcasts or without other flags, I think. It's been getting more normal over the last few years though, usually when there's a huge sports event. Sometimes it gets on my nerves because I think it's silly, but on the other hand US levels of national pride really weird me out. [editline]edit[/editline] This comic is pretty accurate: http://satwcomic.com/evil-flag
The cause of Germanies standpoint towards such matter is the viewpoint of the rest of the world towards them. So you can't really blame anyone, because a lot of people are too ignorant to keep calm when it happens and keep calm when it doesn't. You won't really find a lot of Germans minding his past, to be honest. It's more a matter of international opinion, and knowing exactly how things look in eastern Europe, it's not needless.
