I will say it again, we have absolutely no idea what's going on in NK.
party time eerrrrrrrryday
That was amazingly insightful. Wow, I didn't think half this stuff could really exist. The Tea Girl was the creepiest thing.
watching the other parts of this documentary I was disturbed by that scene in the tea shop with that woman who would probably be there with no one for another few months, I almost got teary eyed.
I'd love to form some kind of resistance and overthrow the government to free the people.
And then I see all those soldiers marching in perfect unison and envision myself being tortured in a north korean prison camp. Kind of kills the mood.
And they didn't even thank China for the help.
If it weren't for china, they would have been fucked.
Watching the documentary. I've seen other diaries from people who have visited NK but it's as creepy and weird as always.
Thanks for the story, i found it very interesting.
The thing is that it seems like these poeple never saw anything better then worshipping their godly leader, who tells them hundreds of lies. And tells them the rest of the world is utter crap. They think their living standards are the best in the world so they all look pretty happy.
Poor tea shop girl. I'd be her friend.
I'd be more than that.
:q:
Watched this yesterday, was pretty interesting.
Was kind of like before and after when you saw the propaganda of the nice state of the art buildings then actually looking outside of the hotel and seeing the complete opposite.
Looks very depressing.
Well we really have absolutely no idea what's going on in NK.
Actually, if you were a woman / wife, I'd say Arabia would be worse than NK.
Can someone get me a copy of the tour video to North Korea?
It's the one that shows in between scenes with the guy talking in a hilarious English accent about how high and mighty North Korea is
I think this video has full parts of the same one:

Supposedly they were propaganda on North Korea's national website which has since been taken down. The age of the actual videos is hard to tell, North Korea hasn't changed much for a while and the quality of the video means nothing when you consider things. 1999 by the looks of the ending.
You have to admit No Motherland Without You is quite catchy, and exactly like an old soviet army song.
Full, but different one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeA52LERyJA
Forced to leave behind his cell phone, GPS and even newspapers before entering the country, Diego Buñuel must pose as an actor to enter North Korea. Every move he makes is constantly monitored, with two watchers 'escorting' him wherever he goes. Starting in the capital of Pyongyang, Diego is housed in a hotel built on an island to keep visitors from interacting with locals, and where all the rooms are bugged. Attending a Catholic mass in Pyongyang, Diego finds that there are no ordained priests in North Korea; mass is led by party members. Diego also tours a fairground where children have the chance to 'Kill American Imperialism' in a shooting game. Venturing to the world's largest stadium, Diego watches 100,000 dancers perform in celebration of 60 years of dictatorship. While this festivity paints an image of happiness and unity, the portrait is not quite as picturesque in the countryside. The effects of poverty, famine and oppression are deeply etched in the faces of its people and the landscape. Even in Pyongyang, the signs of repression are omnipresent - from the number of dances allowed to be performed (only 5-7 according to one party member) to the images of Kim Jung Il found in every corner. I watched it. Quite interesting.
Got to feel sorry for the children, Being told to learn for the "Nation" of korera, im guessing they would have Conscription so... Their tallents would be wasted as they would only be used as cannon fodder.
Also, Get Pun Yun Shi out of there! :P
Reminds me of the
:ussr:
May it rest in peace.
The music from the beginning of that video is catchy.
The music from the beginning of that video is catchy.
The marching is absolutely ridiculous.
I've seen this and it's the best or one of the best hands-on documentaries of North Korea.
Vice TV is the shit!
For anyone interested (and in the UK), this is a pretty good watch - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00qpk0g/Storyville_20092010_Kim_JongIls_Comedy_Club/
Four journalists go undercover as comedians and travel to North Korea.
They set up the room to be half in NK and half in SK so they can have cocks
That's fucked up.
Poor tea shop girl. And fuck you Speedy Gonzalez.

Shane Smith rocks. Hes pretty brave for doing what he did, I'm sure most of their "guides" would of had no tolerance for anything that didnt suck North Korea's dick, or as they said in those shitty propaganda movies "NORT KOR-EER" and would have jailed him and his crew, I was sure at some point they would of gotten harassed by the citizens.
