ITT: People underestimate the severity of the conditions underprivileged people have to live and don't understand how this can be lessened by reducing government involvement.

Well this violence isn't (mostly) about culture, but monetary gain.
ITT: People underestimate the severity of the conditions underprivileged people have to live and don't understand how this can be lessened by reducing government involvement.
Yessir, gangs have a lot to do with government involvement.
ITT: People justify violence because of culture, and argue about non-topic occurrences.
I am saying they join and stick with gangs because of family ties.
I am not saying that the culture causes violence.

Familial ties have a lot to do with culture.

And you just go on and prove my point.
Gangs are bolstered by drug laws, it's a pretty simple concept.

government bans drugs. gangs form and make millions selling drugs illegally. the government is completely uninvolved in this scenario right?
Well this violence isn't (mostly) about culture, but monetary gain.
Don't you think that this monetary gain the gangs commit violence over would not exist if not for the drug culture of today?

Goddamn you ninja.
I was typing up a cool big post for that too :frown:
Whether they didn't know it from being "under-privileged" or not the decision of joining a gang that preforms illegal activities is not the best..
Hey my post is cool too!
Whether they didn't know it from being "under-privileged" or not the decision of joining a gang that preforms illegal activities is not the best..
I'm not doubting that, but there isn't much of an option under their circumstances.
I'm not doubting that, but there isn't much of an option under their circumstances.
Then what is there to argue over? It cant be changed directly.

lol i dunno
it's like that song by Neyo
I'm just going to say: end the drug war, legalize drugs.
And then what? Do you honestly think the gangs are gonna stop? They're just gonna go on to do even worse things. Look at what happened in the 1920s when they unbanned alcohol.

uh, they banned alcohol in the 1920's. it remained illegal into the 30's
if you know literally nothing about a subject you really shouldn't talk about it
And then what? Do you honestly think the gangs are gonna stop? They're just gonna go on to do even worse things. Look at what happened in the 1920s when they unbanned alcohol.
I think I near pissed myself reading this.
i mean making alcohol illegal was what caused the gangs to form. There was money to be made in illegal alcohol trafficking. Once it was made legal again, they died out.
Yet. And some of those men have families you know?
Their family dosen't deserve the same punishment, but these bastards deserved the worst of fates as far as I'm concerned. This can fly back, and forth though depending on the family's involvement.
This brings in a new topic then, we spend money to keep him alive for his food/light/clothing after doing those horrid things, thus wasting tax dollars or whatever money contributed, for a damn murderer.
Think about it kid.
You're out of your depth.
Familial ties have a lot to do with culture.
Ok, and where am i using culture to justify violence?
I'm just saying that in Mexican culture, family ties are huge and that's why family members normally end up in gangs together and/or they don't abandon someone when they do join one.
these kinds of people are not really people...they deserve it
mexico was always a shit country
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em
If you can't beat 'em, then you aren't using enough napalm.
But yeah, just legalize and regulate this shit. It's the best way to win the war.
Blackjack.
mexico was always a shit country
Have you been to mexico?
Detached? Im not detached, I love my friends, family, and most people who arent assholes, or confined by stupidity/not wanting to see the truth (BurnEmDown)
Making friendships can advance you both, and can give you that fuzzy feeling inside. Risking your life for this person, or goals, can be worth it, but only when you aren't DESTINED to die soon in such of the way of these gangs.
Okay now consider the very real possibility that turning tail and running from these gangs, leaving everyone you care about behind, can easily get said people killed because these cartel assholes know the best way to get to someone is through their friend & family.
Would you still run?
