TV Networks Say You're Breaking The Law When You Skip Commercials

If this is illegal then so is AdBlock, and I don't see Google throwing a fucking hissy fit over it. Hell, it's a supported extension on Chrome. Even if it's not the same mechanic, it's the same concept.
ie fuck them
Nice title
Agree'd, I hate dolphins aswell.
And pandas.
commercials is one of the reasons i don't watch TV and because theres nothing ever good on
It IS the reason I don't watch TV. 90% of commercials are not only irrelevant, but also unbearable and disruptive.
If this is wrong
then i dont want to be right
This is why I love the BBC.
What's the point of television when you can watch everything online?
HBO and many other networks let you watch their shows online if you're subscribed.
TV is dying.
I always mute the tv when a commercial is on anyways, tv commercials are completely noneffective on me except for the SuperBowl and the Olympics.
The one time when they seem to put any effort into making the advert effective, engaging, and somewhat relevant. The rest of the time it is either a) irrelevant cool thing happens, name of item or b) irrelevant joke happens, name of product.
I've got too much going in on in my head to have room to have a random, lame, unrepeatable but designed to be unforgettable joke or jingle assaulting me several times each time I watch a show. It's sinister memetics. They aren't even trying to advertise the product - they just think that getting the name stuck in your head will force you to buy it.
Because I totally don't want to skip commercials when I see the same commercial played literally twice in a row.
I haven't had a TV hooked up in my room for years.
got one in my room right now only use it for super nintendo and n64
I have a TV in my room too. I use it as a second/couch gaming screen. Not having a cable saves up so much money, instead I can buy faster internet if I want to.
commercials is one of the reasons i don't watch TV and because theres nothing ever good on
precisely, I want my content without breaks.
Unless it's Live tv like sports, then I'm not interested.
Make most advertisements entertaining and we wouldn't have to sit through them, especially those cheesy and annoying fucking commercials that try to be funny.

this is where the Japanese come into play and have always been ahead of the game on entertainment

"What are you in for?"
"I skipped commercials"
It does seem kinda shitty of DISH to support automatic skipping. Couldn't the networks just withdraw service from DISH if they're making such a blatant effort to hurt their profits?
Not bothered by the length of time they take, just bothered by how infuriatingly fucking dreadful they are to watch most of the time.

They're making a blatant effort to give their customers a highly sought feature.

And the only other commercials I like are the Mayhem ones from Allstate. Everyone loves Mayhem.
Portugal.
Where every show is a rip off of other shows except they are 1000x worse because the hosts are horrible dicks trying to be funny.
Television in our country is a literal shit-fest.
All we get is shitty brazillian soap operas, even worse portuguese ripoffs of said soap operas, very very bad ripoffs of every single fucking popular show from fear factor to american idol, it's disgusting.
So, do they propose we arrest everyone who changes the channel or mutes the TV when their ads come on?
People DO NOT LIKE BEING ADVERTISED TO. Deal with it.
No, don't influence you bullshit on us, I want to watch my taped Game of Thrones and Revenge without your bullshit product Placement I see everywhere.
and this is why people like netflix. High quality, commercial free, for less than it costs for cable/satellite per month. I love netflix for this. They have all my favorite shows, although movie selection is ass but thats because of the ~movie companies~ keeping netflix from getting them.

We need Netflix to be embraced by the industry like Spotify is. I'd pay 15-20 a month if I could be guaranteed a decent, if not comprehensive selection.

Adblock only works because so few people use it. If it were used by even just 20% of the internet then Google and other people would have to possibly lay people off and redirect people from improving the internet to making an Adblock blocker so that the advertisers don't freak out. places Luke YouTube and Facebook need the money from ads to keep afloat. The alternative is paying for it. If you use Adblock you are as good as pirating the product/service.

These companies are literally making profits in millions, if not billions of dollars. A loss in advertising means they'd have to give up some CEO bonuses and actually pay for running the website.

And blocking ads is absolutely nothing even remotely close to pirating.

And there went any seriousness in that post.

We need Netflix to actually get to Europe. The only country that has it right now is the UK.
We need Netflix to actually get to Europe. The only country that has it right now is the UK.
You'll be disappointed honestly when it does. Its getting progressively worse all the time. Pretty much every month, it loses just a little more quality.
I'm pretty sure there was a Simpsons episode exactly like this.
What? So we watch normal people try at comedy skits in their subway, maccas, and all the crappy fast food shit ads. No. Or any ad for that matter, depending on if it's funny at all.
That's like 90 percent of the ad genre these days, who gives a shit, don't watch them. They are a excuse for breaks. Maybe when they hire celebrities, it works apparently.
And it's not a crime, not to watch TV.
And irony that most people should be spending more time outside playing sports, and better things in their time. So they go to jail? Fuck off.
Only in Soviet Russia/America. I forgot Germany, but I'll just leave them out.
uncontrolled capitalism in action
