It's official: Indonesia's new law (chemically) castrates pedophiles
Oh I don't think pedophiles should be castrated.
Whether it's chemically or by ripping off their nuts with your hand.
I don't think a pedophile's child would automatically become a pedophile.

Also is it really not permanent? Cuz I didn't know that, but it still must be quite fucking intrusive for a person
Chemical castration doesn't fit the word 'castration.' It just a way of turning people asexual
Always wanted to see actual reports and stats of criminals getting beaten or killed while serving their sentences. just for curious laughs haha
Facepunch is not your personal masturbation station.

Yes because I was seeking for something to jerk off at back there by making that post.

I don't even know what asexual is but I'm guessing it's attraction to nothing, at least not children.
Sounds nasty still.

It's not really that nasty. It just removes yoru sex drive, that's all.

Temporarily? Can you just get it back with some other medical treatment type deal involving other chemicals?
Still that's intrusive, and it can't be too healthy.
There aren't any other chemicals. You just stop using the drugs that cause your sex drive to get lowered.
And yeah this is pretty intrusive, but so is child molestation. So I can see why Indonesia would do this. I don't really agree with it though, I think it should be the last resort or optional. Though it's better than any other alternatives for the mentally ill.
I don't see the problem with this. Pedophiles can't control their sexuality even if they want to. I've seen interviews a long time ago about people in prison. One of them was a pedophile really struggling with what he had done and he wished he was chemically castrated on time.
The procedure isn't permanent and what else is there to do about them having these sexual feelings?
Chemical castration sounds so nasty compared to what it is.

Just going off of wikipedia its apparently not uncommon for people to use at a higher dose one of the same drugs (cyproterone acetate) that some (mtf) trans people take. The drug is also used at an even higher dose to treat some types of prostate cancer. So yeah like as drugs go these won't be the super beyond the pale, injecting acid into someone's testicles type things that some people picture as `chemical castration' but that doesn't mean they still aren't serious.
It causes infertility which is usually (though certainly not always) reversible upon stopping. But it also has a pretty large number of side effects including a dramatic increase in depression and suicidal tendancies. A large number of these other effects are not reversible. Like it isn't used in the US (officially) for anything since the side effects are dangerous enough that the FDA won't approve it. Again this is all from wikipedia so idk exactly accurate it is but I think it gives a reasonable idea.
I think that forcing people to take medication especially things that can cause serious changes to one's body and mental state is always going to be super iffy morally. There is definitly the concern that this sort of thing violates bodily autonomy (which most places still in principle believe even criminals have) in a way which just jailing them forever doesn't. I think it makes far more sense to offer it as part of a voluntary rehabilitation and early parole system because if the person doesn't take the offer them being stuck in jail means it doesn't really matter if they still have a sex drive.

Yeah exactly, it's an act of assault on their bodies, and by some principles we shouldn't do that.
an invasive punishment for an invasive crime. I'd say it fits yeah.
An eye for an eye?
I don't see the problem with this. Pedophiles can't control their sexuality even if they want to.
Is this true? I didn't think pedophiles were inherently rapists or child molesters.

Most forms of paedophillia are assaults on bodies and minds.
In proven cases it's appropriate.

It's about as much an assault on their bodies as medicating any other form of mental condition.
These people are sick and they need help. Removing their sex drive so they don't feel an aggravating urge that sickens them and everyone around them is the way to help them.
Not being able to get aroused or have an erection sucks but feeling an uncontrollable urge to molest children despite your better judgement sucks more.
