Why is this news? when we get 45cm in Toronto it's not news, why is 15cm in England news?
I want my 30in from the blizzard of '50. The 14in blizzard last year wasn't enough, plus I haven't seen snow yet this year.
Why is this news? when we get 45cm in Toronto it's not news, why is 15cm in England news?
And it starts again... As I have said earlier this year and last year to various people here, this sort of snow fall and cold weather is not usual in the UK therefore it is news to us. If you had 150cm of snow it would be in the news for you, it is the same really. Back to the topic: Weather forecast keeps changing for me, had a very light (~20 min) snow flurry yesterday morning and it sort of settled for an hour. The forecast is now saying that I should get some snow over the weekend and into next week, occasionally the forecast says snow tomorrow. Its really unpredictable at the moment.
It snowed here in Llantwit (Bridgend/Cardiff area) during my last lesson today. Seems to have stopped now, 2 inches at most at my school but not where I am right now. :/
I wish we had snow here in Wiltshire
Yeah wouldn't mind some days off from New college. Swindon needs snow!
I hate snow, unless there's so much that I get to stay off school.
Why is this news? when we get 45cm in Toronto it's not news, why is 15cm in England news?
Because this amount of snow could make the temperature of our tea drop by 1 degree.
There's freezing rain in most of Ontario right now. There were a lot of accidents in my town, it's crazy. My buses were still running too... Just goes to show how used to this stuff we are.
There was hail heavy enough to make it look like snow where I lived. Though when people made snowballs with them they were essentially compacting the 'snow' into lumps of pure ice that felt like rocks when they hit you.
wow its funny how regular winter over here is "SNOW CHAOS" somewhere else
There's freezing rain in most of Ontario right now. There were a lot of accidents in my town, it's crazy. My buses were still running too... Just goes to show how used to this stuff we are.
no one here knows how to drive in the snow, that's the problem

Just goes to show how used to this stuff we are.
We are getting better in the UK at dealing with this sort of thing, we have like a billion tonnes of grit / salt on standby for some reason this year, still no snow ploughs in most places though. If this keeps up for a few more years (this is the second or third year of "bad" snow if it does come bad which they are saying it will) I guess we will eventually learn to deal with it like other countries with severe weather do.
I don't think I'll ever forget the news report with a man saying something like 'THERE IS CHAOS ON THE STREETS DUE TO THE EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS' and the clip they showed was a man slightly losing his balance on the ice, but recovering and carrying on.
Just think of the old people :saddowns:
Why is this news? when we get 45cm in Toronto it's not news, why is 15cm in England news?
Because Britain's infrastructure was built around getting days off work and school when it is snows so we need to be kept up to date.
Because Britain's infrastructure was built around getting days off work and school when it is snows so we need to be kept up to date.
Shh someone might find out our secret.
Yesterday there was a bit of snow and Cross-Country got cancelled. That was it. Apparently it's worse further up north, but not much. Of course, if this was happening in London all the headlines would be "SNOW TERROR HALTS NATION"

Not again :frown:
I wish it would snow here in North West England. Maybe it would make the chavs go inside to smoke.
They've already said they have enough, although some is being imported from New Zeland and hasn't come yet
They said that last year. Snow drifts 3 feet deep and blizzards where I live, phenomenal work on the part of councils, absolutely stellar work. I'm getting a can of lynx and a lighter if it snows like that again, melt a path home through the ice and smell great as I do it :smug:

Incase of neds or you run out of 'fuel'.

I enjoy having eyebrows though. And not setting my hair on fire, if that happened much pain would be felt and much hair would be lost.
