I'd say it's to compare price/speeds. We're informing other users. What's the problem? If you don't care, just ignore it.

And this is the best speed you will get in Australia for the next 20+ years unless you are one of the lucky few to already have the ALPs NBN. Apparently this is a sufficient speed going into the future
Huh?

This is how extensive their whole network is. I can probably say alongside all of you that I really hope that one day something like this comes to my DSL-only little town
Data is transferred in bits per second not bytes per second. Megabit/s is more technically accurate than bytes
What? No...you don't just send one bit. You always send at least 1 byte. There is no smaller denomination.

The transmission (physical layer) is bit-serial.

Im pretty satisfied with my net. :)
Why are the internet speeds in your countries so low with those insane prices? Here in Sweden, internet speeds are high and cheap. I guess it because it's a small country.
Meanwhile the idiots in charge here think 25Mbps is more than enough.
Lol here they think 1 Megabit is enough

how the fuck
-snip-
I love how inconceivably ironic this is for me.
North Carolina (where I've lived my entire life) becomes the first Gigabit state...
Yet my family has been struggling for any sort of reliable internet connection for years.
Literally, we live about 40 feet away from the nearest roadrunner access zone, thus we've had to rely on crappy satellite service for as long as I can remember. To be fair, I live in a pretty rural area, but hearing about this injects a bit of cruel irony to my inconvenience.
