My internet drops from time to time, so you can bet your ass I won't be buying this game.
This. I NEVER get a full day without at least one internet drop, I'll never be able to enjoy an always online gaem because of this. Granted I'm not sure I'dwant to.
Well, Anno 2070 for example made good use of the always-on internet connection the game needs.
ANNO 2070 doesn't have always online DRM, you only need to be connected when you start the game. It's a shame that Sim City 5 is always on, I wont be getting it because its there.
This game will probably be the most pirated game this year due to the always-on DRM. This is one of the cases where EA will lose sales due to piracy because of this shitty idea that will "stop piracy in its tracks". [editline]16th July 2012[/editline] And consequently, EA will blame piracy for the game's poor sales.
I'll be sticking with simcity 4 thank you very much.
most of the people in here who said they won't buy it probably will, or they were never interested in SimCity to begin with.
Even though pirates get to play the game with no hassles AT ALL. Big publishers like EA are like little kids that don't understand something so simple like 2+2. They just fail to see that ALL drm will be cracked usually within a couple days. But they continue to hurt themselves by doing dumbass things like always on DRM that only hurt the consumer, not the pirate.
Gee, if only there was a way that gamers as a whole can stop developers and publishers from putting DRM on their games. [editline]16th July 2012[/editline]
Because the majority is just fine with dealing with it. If we were able to somehow convice 90% of EA customers to not buy their shit then I would join them. But until then I will keep buying from EA because while I disagree with their business practices, I do enjoy their games.
Oh boy another one of your EA posts to reply to. If you could somehow get 90% of EA customers to not buy EA games, a lot of those people will end up pirating the game they're "protesting." You know what the publishers do when they see that, right?
Meh, the game honestly didn't look that good anyways.
Bradshaw says that EA are “investing quite a bit in making sure we’re locked and loaded.”
Good, when it fails EA will be that closer to being bankrupt.
why does every game have to be "social" why
To make cool and dumb kids that don't belong on the internet buy it.
Adam Jensen said it best: "I never asked for this" I like the idea of a persistent world that players populate but why shove it down people's throat like this? If I want to enjoy the company of other people, I go outside, on Facepunch or play shooters. I mean, what the hell for? It's not like every SimCity player would just go "YES, this is exactly what I wanted, I can't start the game without internet and the multiplayer that I'll never play is so good! Thanks EA, I love you forever, take all of my monthly income!"
From what I've heard, it's still doing okay. So it was a failure in the sense that it failed to keep the millions of subs it got at launch maybe but not overall. Wasn't that online-at-launch rather than all the time?
I guess so, if your connection dies it's still playable and from what I saw the most that got cracked was the uPlay launcher.
