how do you download something off the net? torrenting is downloading off many peoples computers...
It says File Sharers to be cut off from the internet.
Sucks living in the UK, looks like I left just in time!
Sucks living in the UK, looks like I left just in time!
That's if they find you.
Oh for fuck's sake. I can't wait to leave.
Of course, it's already been proven, time and time again that it's ridiculously easy to get false-positives. Anyone remember the RIAA targeting a printer a while back because it's IP address was injected into a torrent swarm? Just think, that IP address could just as easily be made up, and could just as easily be yours.
What about legitimate file sharing - who's to say that those supposedly tracking these shares can tell the difference? This could penalise legal users as well as illegal ones.
Fucking hell, give me more reasons to hate my country why don't you.
In all seriousness surely the answer is to target the sites rather than the people who use them.
It's like that book bootleg, if everybody's a pirate then they can't jail 5billion people.
1billion to like 500 or something
It is estimated that around seven million people in the UK are involved in illegal downloads with half of all the traffic on the net in the UK being content that is shared illegally.
Imagine seven million angry kids(Most of whom know how to make napalm and rudimentary weapons) Against like 500 overweight 40 year old politicians.

This isn't gonna stop piracy...Where there's a will there's a way.
Oh dear I know alot of people who download alot of music. And I warned them this would happen.
Hey guys, did you know if you saved an image off of a web site, and that image was copy righted, you pirated it? LOLOLOLOL
[editline]10:43AM[/editline]
Enjoy your no-internets.
What are 'hardcore copyright pirates'?
Normal people who occasionally download some tracks. Also, spotify kicks this in the face and rapes it's immediate family.
Nearly 50% of internet users are still on dial-up.
Me being one of them. This also giving me credit to having no concern to pirating laws, though I do think they will, in the end, be a little strict.
I also think that most of you are missing the point of the law that states only the sharers will be prosecuted, not the downloaders, or that's what I've detained from the article, as it says it in the title as well.
But, I'm not in the UK, so this causes even less concern for me.
ISPs are really angry at this (they don't believe it's their responsibilty to police the internet (which it isn't of course))
Yeah, ISP's are pissed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8219652.stm
Thanks again, Peter Mandleson! I hope your prostate hurts.

I can police the internet. You should welcome me as your new overlord.

Are you sure
Well that sucks. I'm expecting a few trackers to be shut down after this amendment caught up.

Somehow I don't think AT&T and Comcast are a part of that list....
