Speaking of Gangnam Style, I was surprised to find out that girl in the subway is perplexingly only one year younger than me. Like, fo reals.
as a korean and to most of us, it's not really surprising, korean idols are usually trained during their childhood / adolescence and made big if they prove they have talent, most famous korean singers are still in their 18 to mid 20's, while some really popular ones are still 15-16 and our korean age system bumps up a year, so they're one year younger than you guys think lol it's sort of awesome and fucked up, cause in one hand, they're hot and shit while being great singers, but in the other, there's a culture we're aware about where media corporations sexually take advantage of trainees, we have one scandal or two about them per year. thankfully, majority of the girlgroups isn't as fucked up and we're still wondering how the fuck this song is so popular as well lol
Holy shit what I have never heard of this song before
Step 1. Listen this song. Step 2. You like it. If not repeat step 1.
Didn't really work for me. :\
Am I the only person in the West that wasn't impressed with Gangnam Style? I got about 30 seconds in, got bored, closed it, and the only time since that it's been on my mind is when I see it mentioned.
i hated it at first that changed after i had heard it like 50 times

But overhyped. Gratz to PSY though.
From a musician's perspective, the songwriting and instrumentation isn't exactly impressive, but it's a fun song. It's mindless and not meant to be taken seriously. I like it for that.
It's cool song, but if it's spammed around too much it becomes a joke. (Rebecca Black and Carly Rae Jepsen etc.) For example: Few days ago (Monday) Gangam style was played/spammed around my school radio by some youngsters who think they're cool. They had "just" found out about Gangam style... thinking they're hip or that sort of stuff. It became irritating to me from that point onwards. I like the song, but if it gets too much popularity it just gets too annoying. And another example of the case: on my way to home from groceries some dudes in their pre-20's drove by with with their sub-woofers playing Gangam style with full volume. It feels like they're rubbing it in my face especially.
You don't like it because it's popular?
No, I just hate being forced to hear it every time I go outside.

Then I just kind of let go of my feelings regarding it and now I don't care if I hear it being blasted on full volume somewhere.
I'm Chinese-American and I think this is rad as fuck (I got the entire class-satire aspects when he was walking around in the horse stables
I listened to it and disliked it. Guess I'm not on a bandwagon for once. :v:
People like it, thus it is a band wagon.

it sounds like a korean version of sexy and i know it
From a musician's perspective, the songwriting and instrumentation isn't exactly impressive, but it's a fun song. It's mindless and not meant to be taken seriously. I like it for that.
See this is what I hate about what people see in the song. It's not mindless and has some serious message behind it. While PSY utilizes humor and looks ridiculously silly, the video is a critique on Korean high society. It says so in the article and even in the name of the song. It's the one thing that I don't like about this song's popularity. People are taking it out of context and think it's just a silly pop song when really is not at all mindless. [editline]30th August 2012[/editline] Actually the song appealed way more to me once I found out what it actually means. It went from being a ridiculously catchy and fun pop song, to being something I actually respect.
Ayyyyy sexyyy laddyyyy It is surely the music representation of planet earth
I was listening to KISS and AMP, and they both played Gangnam style :v: So yeah, it's amazingly popular.
That ain't shit. Classical.fm(As in Classical Symphonies and Solo Piano) was playing it a couple nights ago. :v:
