well aside from the microphone and lack of weaponry yeah it was pretty much impossible to tell.
We don't really know what the shooter was seeing.
We don't really know what the shooter was seeing.
one could assume he was seeing the person he shot and killed

Soldier sees guy with AKS run across street. Soldier readies and shoots the second guy running across the street. I don't see how its the individual soldiers fault he killed a reporter who was with his enemy. Are you trying to blame the soldier that the journalist was killed?

not entirely but i think its pathetic trying to defend assad's regime killing an unarmed reporter clearly carrying a microphone by saying "oh well you can't even tell its a reporter!"

tbh it seems like the shooter singled him out.

Oh I thought we were talking about the person who pulled the trigger, my bad.

we are
tbh it seems like the shooter singled him out.
I don't see how thats even possible because they were kind of behind a wall. Its probably because the first guy ran across, spiked the squad/soldiers attention and then they shot the second guy.
are you being sarcastic or am i confused

Suffice it to say the guy was probably more focused with just shooting the next person to come across the street. I doubt he noticed he was a reporter, but who's to say he would really care that much.
we are
Then why are you trying to demoralize my argument on the basis that the shooter is connected to the Assad regime?
Then why are you trying to demoralize my argument on the basis that the shooter is connected to the Assad regime?
because the assad regime has killed reporters in the past and has a policy of making sure there are no reporters in syria
because the assad regime has killed reporters in the past and has a policy of making sure there are no reporters in syria
And that nullifies my argument how?
tbh it seems like the shooter singled him out.
Definitely didn't, he saw a dude bail across the street but couldn't react quick enough and he knows that guy will have friends so he gets ready for the next dude, just happens to be the reporter.
It's shit yeah but i doubt they targeted the reporter specifically.
I thought we were past this bullshit. The modern AK (after '74) is accurate up to 600 meters. The only limit is the shooter's ability. Automatic fire is a different piece of pie all-together and is useless at long range past the first bullet with any small arm.
I was specifically talking about it's accuracy in automatic fire. Because of the way the action is designed, it causes muzzle rize when the shot is fired, then when the bolt is pushed back to load another round. Even still, I would rather use a SVD or something similar for a DMR rather than an AK-74.
i guess it would have been too much to ask for the thread to not be about the intricacies of guns or the people that shoot them again
It's relevant to the video so I don't see the harm in discussing it.
I like guns as much as the next guy but why are we jerking off over the gun used when there is a much more serious issue?
because the assad regime has killed reporters in the past and has a policy of making sure there are no reporters in syria
This is exactly what they want you to think. And it was easy enough to push on people because of Syria's policy on press-media. Everyone automatically assumes it was Assad's regime because "Hey, they're the bad guys coz dey h8 reporters".
All they need is one plainclothed reporter shot dead with a logo to turn more heads towards the FSA and more people away from assad's already "EVIL" regime

You smell dumb.
if you read the article it says at least 20
I was asking about Assad's regime. If you'd read my post...
I was expecting a sudden shot from no where killing an unsuspecting reporter..
Instead we have a reporter running across an open street with zero cover by himself in a hostile zone that was being watched by the enemy. Not only that, but he did it after the hostiles have already been alerted to an enemy presence running from the same spot that reporter ran from.
I mean, kudos to the reporter and all of that, but his death could have been prevented by not making an extraordinarily stupid mistake, either on the part of the reporter or the rebels.
It's relevant to the video
im sorry how is this relevant to the death of journalists and the rapid dangers they face in reporting important information to the rest of the world
this isn't about guns, stop talking about guns

no fun allowed I guess, sorry.
no fun allowed I guess, sorry.
Yeah if by fun you mean near enough derailing the thread then yeah man, barrels of laughs.
no fun allowed I guess, sorry.
If you want to talk about how cool AK's are or their varying degrees of accuracy or power, maybe take it to the Firearms thread? This is about a journalist killed while reporting the violence in Syria, not the gun used to kill him.
no fun allowed I guess, sorry.
lmao you have like no conception of how serious this actually is do you
until its about gun control then all of sudden its serious and demands our full attention and sympathy
i mean i know a lot of people get annoyed by my really antagonistic behavior on this sub-forum, but this is just off-putting
I've always been wondering, and I got into a tiny dispute about this, in games when you shoot sniper rifles while moving, typically the bullet goes somewhere completely fucking retarded and outlandish. In real life, do guns shoot more or less in a straight line, and the only inaccuracy is from gun movement?
Guns do this.

Then take into account wind blowing it as well.
From what I've seen most media label shooters that are hidden as a Sniper. As long as the victims didn't return fire because they cant see where he is then yep, its a sniper.
Also I expected even journalists to wear at least a flak jacket in a warzone.

In this case a flak jacket wouldn't have done shit. A helmet is the best they could do in any situation in Syria, really.
Jesus christ this thread has a lot of shitposting.
Most of facepunch supports the regime, but I'd rather have the muslim rebel government then this. The regime killed innocents, bombed areas filled with civilians, and shot down protests. I don't see how a facepuncher could support that.
