I'm pretty sure that before signing up with them, Bungie made it clear that they need their own free-reign to make things work.
Of course, that may not mean much, but its there.
It's good to know Bungie's being cautious. I don't want to see what happened to Infinity Ward happen to Bungie.
Concept art looks amazing.
Those fucking IGN watermarks. I hate seeing when "gaming news" from IGN is watermarked.
I wonder why
I know Bungie made it. I am just saying - it sort of shows that Bungie is about as original as Infinity Ward.

They're making a new universe and you liken them to a developer who only makes call of duty. What?
I mean, sure, mass effect has some similar qualities to star wars, but I wouldn't say bioware are as unoriginal as infinity ward.
Sounds a bit like "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke.
fucking
IGNs video says
"DETAILS HERE"
I click it
"ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO IGN?"
their link to all the details is a fucking subscription

It shows that Bungie can only make super generic sci-fi shooters. Very much like how Infinity Ward can only make super generic uber gritty 360 no-scope games.
Bioware can make games of different genres/settings. As could Lucas Arts for movies (RIP in peace).
Even if I have to wait a year, its nice that SOMETHING from them is being put on PC.

That's like comparing an apple and an orange to a brown and a pale cracker.

I'm pretty sure Bungie woulda put Halo on PC if MS wasn't limiting them

And the Mac, Bungie put a lot of games on the Mac back in the day. I've still got all my Marathon CDs for the Mac and Pathways into Darkness on floppies.

That was before the MS buyout.

Goes to show you don't know shit about Bungie.

I still love the irony that Halo was going to be Mac exclusive.
That was before the MS buyout.
And?
MS buying them out didn't create halo.
Halo existed well before the buyout even happened.
That was before the MS buyout.
I fail to see how that's relevant.
Halo was in development before the buyout as a sci-fi game for the Mac. After they buyout, they continued to make the game they WANTED to make. And given its success, it would have been downright daft to not continue the series they'd planned.

What about the fact it was originally a rts?

For the past, what, 6 years, all they have made is sci-fi shooters.

Yes, that is my avatar.
And yes, they have made very good sci-fi shooters.
And no, they've done a lot more than make sci-fi shooters.
The fact that they haven't goes to show that they DO know how to make other games, and do it well. They just like making sci-fi games, and that's not a bad thing by any stretch.

Going by their own website, halo is the only thing they have done for like 10 years.
10 years of generic sci-fi shooters, fan boy.

Is this supposed to be news to anyone? You're saying that like nobody knows.
They had contracts to fulfill with Microsoft. If not for that, they would have probably stopped at 3. But they needed to make 2 more games, hence ODST and REACH. Now that they are 100% separated from Microsoft, they can go ahead and make something new. If that "something new" also happens to be a sci-fi, but a very different sci-fi, there's nothing wrong there.
What you're saying is they are lazy because they are sticking to a genre that they have proven to be proficient in working with. Its like calling Quentin Tarantino lazy for not getting off his ass and making a Romantic Comedy already.

Destiny looks like a generic sci-fi shooter in which you get to shoot the bad guys (aliens) with guns.
Halo is a generic sci-fi shooter in which you get to shoot the bad guys (aliens) with guns.
$20 dollars it has many of the same gameplay elements and story ploys as halo.

Do you know how easy it is to make any game sound like shit if you put it like this?
i think it's really up in the air whether or not they've been making "very good" shooters.
dude they've basically been making the same game over and over again. honestly i dunno how you could not disagree with that. the only GIANT changes that ever happened to halo's gameplay were dual wielding and the lack of a health bar beneath the shield bar.
i don't care who was responsible for milking the series almost as much as call of duty has been milked. but whoever it was is a giant whore/bunch of whores. even if it was bungie themselves

Deus Ex:HR is a game where you get to have metal arms, kill the bad guys and unravel a conspiracy.
Skyrim is a game where you get to walk around killing the bad guys, good guys, neutral guys and plus do whatever you feel like.
Yeah those sound bad.

How does any of Destiny sounds generic? Most of it sounds pretty cool and interesting.
