at least he's somewhere safe .. for now
Canada? Seriously? Dude he'd be roasted in Canada Anyway Ecuador's president offered him asylum if he needed it two years ago, of course he'd go to Ecuador instead of some random embassy with no knowledge of what awaits him.
Depends, alot of the time Canada condemns anything the US does politically/arrests its citizens. Then again Julian isn't Canadian he is Australian.
Unfortunately for him the Australian government already offered to arrest and extradite him the moment he steps on Australian soil
lets start world war 3 over a single man
The right man in the wrong place.... can make all the dif...er..ence in the world.....
I'm still wondering why he went to the embassy of Ecuador. Wouldn't there be other countries better suited for him? Thinking of Switzerland, Canada or New Zealand. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline] Seeing that Ecuador doesn't exactly have a good track record of being open and free of corruption.
Considering what we did to Polanski I'm not sure it would be the best choice.
You're forgetting that our government sucks the US's dick pretty much daily. The US says jump and we say "how high?"
That is completely incorrect.
"I think equador needs some "liberating"" is probably what every republican politician is thinking right now
You're forgetting that our government sucks the US's dick pretty much daily. The US says jump and we say "how high?"
Look, I agree with a transparent government and all, but this is the main reason why I don't like hearing about this guy. Every time a topic comes up about Assange, people then start to get the idea that it's all the US fault. "Oh that country wants him in jail? Then blame the US cause they suck their dicks." Ugh, it's getting too out of hand. Do you even know what goes on in the governments, what makes it tick, why they would do this? No? I didn't think so. Though on another note, I am not sure where I am with Assange. As I said, I support what he is doing, but on another note I don't due to the few leaks that would do more harm then good, like the recent leak involving the cameras.
Canada would probably take him as they pretty much disagree with everything the US does when it comes to war and human rights.
Harper.
"I think equador needs some "liberating"" is probably what every republican politician is thinking right now
This just in: The US condemns Ecuador for harbouring terrorists [editline]16th August 2012[/editline]
Harper.
Too many people think Harpor is Command and control of Canada. This isn't the united states, this is a functional multiparty system.
I still find it funny that the reason they would 'raid'the embassy would be to arrest a suspected rapist. It's clear that something else is motivating them.
http://404systemerror.com/does-your-mp-know-c-38-allows-fbi-agents-to-operate-in-canada/ Source is shitty but they do provide citations.
"By a vote of 49-31, Bill C-38 passed through the Senate" Watch it get shutdown in parliament. Unlike the US our MP's tend to stick up for citizens.
Why is there so much commotion over a fucking sexual offense case... I know it's about the wikileaks boss, but i mean come on... Really? The only thing that makes sense is what Assange is saying, that he will be exported to the US. Why else would the UK threaten to abandon the protection the ambassy has?
I guess he could technically travel in a car all the way into the airplane itself, if it's large enough to handle it. Alternatively be made a embassador, then he has immunity.
Immunity unless he is accused of a crime. Which he is. He's in hot water.
assange is guilty of rape in sweden
assange is guilty of rape in sweden
Ehm, no, he is not. He's charged with analogy of "sexual assault", yes. But he's not proven guilty.
Some female activist had consensual sex so it became rape.
Ehm, no, he is not. He's charged with analogy of "sexual assault", yes. But he's not proven guilty.
this was what assange's own lawyer said about the incident: (trigger warning - rape) [sp]“[The complainant] was lying on her back and Assange was on top of her … [she] felt that Assange wanted to insert his penis into her vagina directly, which she did not want since he was not wearing a condom … she therefore tried to turn her hips and squeeze her legs together in order to avoid a penetration … [she] tried several times to reach for a condom, which Assange had stopped her from doing by holding her arms and bending her legs open and trying to penetrate her with his penis without using a condom. [She] says that she felt about to cry since she was held down and could not reach a condom and felt this could end badly.”[/sp] that's clearly rape, and the rape apologists that are in support of assange allow people like him to get away with it
She could have said something..
what the fuck, you're still blaming the victim? [editline]16th August 2012[/editline]
The spoilertags really weren't necessary, imo And in my completely source- and baseless opinion, that whole rape thing was just a fabrication to get him into jail
the spoiler tags are so people who've been through something like that don't have to get triggered into remembering it, and you should consider changing your opinion you ass
the spoiler tags are so people who've been through something like that don't have to get triggered into remembering it, and you should consider changing your opinion you ass
Excuse me?

Alot of women play hard to get when having sex because its fun. She should have said something.

As far as I know, it's the second time they're trying to give this case a go. First time was a failure. And the way the case's handled, it's safe to assume something stinks here. I don't believe in such a convenient coincidences. This case was raised and developed just after WL published *these documents*. And it seems Ecuador doesn't buy this coincidence either.
Shit this is pretty cool I hope he gets to Ecuador safely. I'm guessing that he'll have to fly to Ecuador but the way he will leaves me no fucking clue. Chances are he'll be picked up by a Helicopter (UH or Bell, both are part the Ecuadorian embassy) (If the embassy was near a huge ass field they could use a Dash 7 airplane to land, its ment for short runways.) The helichopper will probably have to stop in Iceland. but then, where? They could use a A320, but it would need fueling. Where? Greenland? Would run out then. Nova Scotia? Canada hands him over. US? He's ded. anyways best of luck to mr assange you cute leaky guy
cute? I think it's likely he did commit offences in Sweden. And although it wouldn't be good for him to be sent on to a country where people can be tortured and locked up for several lifetimes, not to mention executed, I would like to see him face any charges of sexual assault if they are ever made - and if guilty be punished according to Swedish law
Are you dumb? Alot of women play hard to get when having sex because its fun.
and then they go to the police???? what kind of sex are you having lol
She should have said something.
silence does not imply consent. unless you think mute people always consent.
It's pretty sickening that you think you could mistake a rape victim as 'playing hard to get lol'
unless you're sexually retarded (which assange definitely was not), you know the difference between someone wanting it and someone not wanting it. if he did indeed do what he was accused of, he knew exactly what he was doing.
Assange is one of the most overrated activists in the world. He cares a lot about WikiLeaks but he also has a massive ego. Although he will really put a real lot of hardwork and time into WikiLeaks, he's got another side to him that isn't so noble. He likes the attention and would probably sacrifice core opportunities for WikiLeaks if it meant a lengthier time in the spotlight. He also thinks he is very seductive, and some of the things he has written about women in his private blog are just an inch short of creepy. He once thought he was secuding a bunch of collegial Christian women with his "mysterious atheists ways," and that they were practically thrusting their breasts at him.
She could have said something..
No means no whether it's spoken, body language, a struggle, a scream w/e. If you're about to put your penis in someone's vagina and she closes her legs and tilts her hips away you are not welcome And you can't get around the fact that he pinned her arms down, forced her legs open, and that she nearly began to cry. He knew what he was doing. Anyone who isn't socially/sexually retarded knows what a woman in discomfort - not pleasure but discomfort - looks like.
