As far as I know Seth didn't use traditional botnets. He was one of the earlier people to take up amplification attacks (mostly DNS amplification and gameserver amplification). He also had a few servers which he launched syn floods from.
Pretty much. He was simply one of the first attackers to utilize recently discussed amplification methods for DDoS attacks at the time, and became famous for it via CloudFlare talking about the attack on their network with other infosec at conferences, panels etc. which made him a big target.
Facepunch Exclusive: pretty sure sentencing is at 10am at Southwark crown court.
The Crown Court at Southwark Daily List for Friday 9 January 2015 at English Grounds, off Battlebridge Lane Court 12 - sitting at 10:00 AM BEFORE: HIS HONOUR JUDGE PEGDEN, QC (12) For Hearing U20150023 POCA X 1 DC WILSON U20150024 POCA X 1 N BEDDER For Mention T20147606 JEREMY Aaron 48C60235414 For Sentence T20147328 ************** **** Order made under s39, CYPA 1933 NOT BEFORE 11:00 AM For Application U20141036 RESTRAINT 95/14
We may know more at 11. The two police officers in attendance are in the 'proceeds of crime' section so the money laundering charges are likely the ones being pushed hardest, or they're looking to acquire his assets Edit: confirmed its him.
I forget if it was pcwizdan or stan but one of them ended up getting into drugs and started selling them and one day the feds busted down his door.
16 years old and already involved with money-laundering and causeless internet terror. Bright future ahead, I'm sure.
Stephen Fry spent time in prison for credit card fraud around that age, and I imagine many other successful people had rough teenage years. Despite what we like to believe in our narrative of good people/naughty people, what people do when they're young can often have a negligible impact on the 'quality' of their future. I know a bunch of folks who are involved in community support, counselling. social work, etc, who got in trouble with the police when they were young. It's just not that black and white I'm afraid
Sentencing is in session, records aren't listing him due to being underage though. Will be interesting to see how this goes. Seth has a codefendent aged 26-30 who is listed in the record.

Is he being tried as a minor?
How do you know this anyway?
They made a mistake in December and published half his name, which I recognised. Case number and court are still the same, and the date he was bailed to was published - so put two and two together and its simple to find the relevant records. [editline]9th January 2015[/editline]
Is he being tried as a minor?
He's been given anonymity under CYPA but I don't think he's being charged as a minor - he's in crown court, not youth court.
Getting done in for such heinous crimes at such a young age doesn't look like he's get much of a future other than what he's already deep in. Still a child porn allegation is pretty damaging to all job opportunities.
Codefendents hearing is finished, restraint application (not clear what for) is finished. Sentence should be next - if it's put on record Edit: restraint application appears to be in relation to seizure of assets [editline]9th January 2015[/editline] Sentencing begun, is on record. Name is hidden but it is him. Adjourned to 14:05, they're off for lunch!
Pedophiles are terrible people, but if the dude's 17 years old and he has pics of naked 16-17 year old girls, then I'm not surprised.
Well, that was anticlimatic. [editline]9th January 2015[/editline] Dont think they meant to add this update... <removed - unnecessary>
Well, who wants to give the Man a call?
