Augh, I still stand by wanting him tortured for the rest of his life.
One of the great benefits of having a sensible legal system not making choices to appeal to the majority.
Nothing of value was lost. He'll be lucky to last 10 years in prison.
Even after all this time on the internet, shit like this still makes me go "oh get fucked".

what a beautiful man
i'd never expect him to commit such a heinous crime!
You say that just because you know the story. If you saw him on the street dressed normally you probably wouldn't think anything.

You realize that using the Halo Effect to deduce that people are rapists is absolutely fucking retarded, right?
He will. People who commit crimes against children tend to live about a year tops in prison. Most of them are dead within a few months.
Couldn't have put it better myself. Hope that it becomes a thing in this fellow's case, because some people really are nothing but the dregs at the bottom of a teacup.

Why did you snip if you then just say the same thing?

People cheering for rape and murder in prison is disturbing.
This motherfucker deserves to rot for the rest of his life
Your behaviour has imposed a life sentence of sorts upon that 11-year-old girl. I am going to respond with what is effectively going to be a life sentence for you in a cell. From a standpoint of any human being, you are a cruel, sexually violent predator who shall never again be put in a position of doing this to a little girl.
and good riddance, 60 years in jail.
No matter how barbaric and inhumane it is, I still find some solace knowing that people like this don't make it.
If the Facepunch White Knights think that makes me a sociopath or something, whatever.
long post, incoming.
(not necessarily addressing you, moustacheman, but instead the people who voted the post 'winner')
i don't blame you for taking this perspective - it doesn't make you a sociopath, it makes you a concerned and empathetic individual towards the victims of the crime. it seems like a reasonable proposition to most people on the outside. it makes you feel safer.
but i think that it'll do some good, from an intellectual standpoint, if you consider things from a different viewpoint, one that's empathetic towards both parties of the situation. for the sake of this post, i'll focus on the side of the rapist, moreover, because that requires more explanation.
while the things that this person did to a child are absolutely 100% reprehensible and worthy of consequence, we shouldn't promote or encourage further acts of violence against anyone in the prison system regardless of their past offenses. chances are this man is psychologically dysfunctional to some degree, and as a result he needs treatment. one could easily agree that he also deserves a prison sentence, but not to be shanked by the inmates. something needs to be done about prison violence.
revenge is not a good principle to include or condone in a justice system, because its primary intents are not to retain order, nor are they to ensure proper due process, nor are they to resolve societal problems, nor are they to provide direct help to the victims of a wrongdoing. revenge is emotional, one-sided, and often completely inconsiderate of the perspective of other party involved.
a pedophile cannot control what he or she is attracted to, this is scientific fact. sexual repression will ultimately worsen one's urges and make their desires exponentially extreme.
now, should we let pedophiles fuck kids? no, of course not, children are not capable of giving informed consent and in literally every situation it's going to have negative impacts on the child. however, our society's attitudes toward pedophiles is only perpetuating a cycle of sexual repression - they do not seek out treatment, because they are afraid of the public bringing out their pitchforks and torches. this will buy-and-large only make the problem worse.
does this mean that we should be 100% accepting of pedophilia? no. does this mean that we have to treat it as if it's 100% normal? no. to assume that those are the only options other than pitchforks-and-torches is a false dichotomy. it needs to be treated like a variety of other psychiatric problems (pedophilia is classified as a psychiatric disorder in the DSM-V, keep in mind), wherein they are encouraged to see a psychiatrist and removed from the presence of children in the meantime for both of their sakes. we also need more research into exactly how pedophilia works, and develop new methods by which these people can manage their urges. that's the only way we're going to solve anything.
rape is wrong, yes, so i'd prefer if people didn't accuse me of being a rape apologist or something. however, rapists are still people. they still have rights. removing rights from a criminal of any caliber sets dangerous precedents and solves no problems.
if anything a person like this is the most deserving of treatment. not necessarily for them, but for everyone else out there.
you must have a thing for std wielding rapists
what the fuck is sarcasm
People cheering for rape and murder in prison is disturbing.
does your white knight mindset not allow you to understand hyperbole and its relation with emotional responses?
"holy fuck these people reacted emotionally to an article, they're bad people"
a pedophile cannot control what he or she is attracted to, this is scientific fact. sexual repression will ultimately worsen one's urges and make their desires exponentially extreme.
Yes, but they can control acting upon those feeling.
chances are this man is psychologically dysfunctional to some degree, and as a result he needs treatment. one could easily agree that he also deserves a prison sentence, but not to be shanked by the inmates. something needs to be done about prison violence.
Someone that rapes a 11 year old and doesn't feel any empathy for her is beyond help, you can't fix someone like that.
I do agree that prison violence is bad, and that he should die by the death penalty and not by an inmate raping/tourturing him.
does your white knight mindset not allow you to understand hyperbole and its relation with emotional responses?
Considering how attitudes like this allow for horrible prison conditions and rape I think it does kind of matter a bit.
Yes, but they can control acting upon those feeling.
the point that i made in the post was that the repression makes it nigh-impossible at a certain point.
you can't suppress your sexual urges without significant amounts of training - the kind that you'd only be able to get from a psychiatrist in western society. repressing them makes it worse, but they have to do so in order to not be torn apart by the public.
simply the accusation of being a pedophile is enough to ruin one's chances of ever getting a job and will likely force a person to leave their community. they feel like they don't have a choice.
Someone that rapes a 11 year old and doesn't feel any empathy for her is beyond help, you can't fix someone like that.
first of all, you don't know if he acted without empathy, the article isn't specific about that. furthermore, if an ideology is enough to numb a person to the suffering of another human being, desperation from biological urges is definitely sufficient.
second of all, they said the same thing about infectious disease. then someone discovered penicillin and figured out that washing your hands can keep you from giving your germs away.
it's not impossible, it just needs more research.
I do agree that prison violence is bad, and that he should die by the death penalty and not by an inmate raping/tourturing him.
although i disagree with the death penalty, i respect your opinion.
i'm disgusted by rape, torture and murder regardless of who it's done to, i sure hope noone calls me a white knight
i'm disgusted by rape, torture and murder regardless of who it's done to, i sure hope noone calls me a white knight
you can be disgusted but it doesnt justify saying that the person should be raped and murdered in prison
you can be disgusted but it doesnt justify saying that the person should be raped and murdered in prison
thats what i mean
I'm not saying this man should be killed or tortured, because that would be wrong of us to do so. However, if here were to be a victim of some sort of misadventure wherein he was killed or tortured purely by environmental means, then that would be okay. For example, were he, on his own, to fall into a pit of penis eating spiders without the aid or inaction of anyone else, that would be an all around net gain for the world.
