Mr Maduro said that the authorities had been tipped off by "young officers". The three generals, who have not been named, had links with the opposition, said Mr Maduro. The arrests are the latest development in nearly two months of political unrest, which have cost the lives of at least 32 people. Mr Maduro's comments were made during a meeting with a delegation of foreign ministers of the Unasur regional bloc, which was sent to Venezuela to assess the political crisis. "The generals who have been detained have direct links with opposition sectors and were saying that this week was going to be decisive," said Mr Maduro.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-26739767

he may be a fucking idiot, but lets be honest here, i doubt there isn't CIA dudes inside Venezuela trying to take advantage of this.
both actually, especially since stupidity attracts opportunism.
Still, the current administration in Venezuela is largely at fault for the problems in the country. I don't recall the USA being particularly deep into Venezuela compared with other South American Banana republics.
Countries generally tend to have incompetent governments, rather than malicious foreigners.
The former usually does more harm, but you can bet on there being spies and meddlers no matter where you go. Here in Germany there are once in a while arrests of Russian ones.
the police repression is getting worse. a friend of mine got his shit stolen (by the police), and got hit with a nightstick on the shoulder for helping some ladies. apparently they went at him because he was wearing a gasmask due to the CS gas being flung about everywhere by the police. this government is not gonna hold out much longer, they recently devaluated the bolivar to 50 bolivares the dollar, from 10.50
is Venezuela now the north korea of South America?
he may be a fucking idiot, but lets be honest here, i doubt there isn't CIA dudes inside Venezuela trying to take advantage of this.
There are agents from almost every country in every country.
Their economy is failing due to Chavez/Maduro policies, inflation is very high there right now and the gov. uses the economy to get more dictatorial powers while yelling "american conspiracy" or some other populist line.
is Venezuela now the north korea of South America?
No other country on earth is near that level of fucked as far as I know.
I can see a second banana war in the future.
This guy's a few coffee beans short of an espresso.
They do this shit all the time. "[Military officer] arrested for [Conspiracy to take down the government / Links with the CIA / Links with the Opposition / Complot against Maduro / Complot against Maduro directed by the CIA]", yet we never hear anything of this cases ever again Seriously, Maduro, fuck off
I can see a second banana war in the future.
Shit, no biggie. We'll just get Japanese support. They may have no military, but they sure as shit have one secret weapon waiting for just that day. [img_thumb]http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/dpqxSBclqWs/hqdefault.jpg[/img_thumb]
I can see a second banana war in the future.
If a 2nd Banana War breaks out in Venezuela, it'll be over securing oil if anything. Funny thing by the way: Almost every media outlet for the Far-Left is stating that the United States is responsible for waging a proxy war in Ukraine and Venezuela. I don't even.
