It's not really communist if he did it willingly. It would be communist if the government had forced him to hand his company over, but since he owned the company, he has the free will to give it away as he pleases.
The workers have a good opportunity to turn it into a co-op.
Most businessmen would just sell the business or pass it on to a family member or associate, this is a rare case here.
