A marijuana crop can see up to 2,000-5000$ dollars a FUCKING POUND. No other crop comes anywhere even close to the low range of weed. So yes, it would help to wipe out the national debt if marijuana was legalized, and taxed. Also, the US spent A trillion dollars since the 1970s. The war on drugs has done nothing but make drug use more frequent and common. If you look at the math behind keeping even one non violent criminal in jail for the full sentence for marijuana possession, you're looking at millions. If you look at the fact that drug users are sentenced more time, more often than anyone else(Drug users get harsher sentences than child rapists on average) then you're looking at a brutal figure that is draining the economy.

Ive outlined this a thousand times before, and Ive come to the conlclusion, paravin and lazyguy are either trolls, or are determined to be retarded, ignorant, and uneducated. I will say nothing of marijuana in this post outside of the fact this is an argument over prohibition. In the case of prohibition, you are deciding for a society, undemocratically, that a substance is illegal. Sometimes, this has a valid backing(once in a million), most of the time, it does not. By telling the people of your country they can not have something, you are starting two things. You have created a black market that will cater to those needs, and you have created a new criminal base of otherwise law abiding citizens. By allowing a black market to exist, you are funneling more money away from the government(Say, taxes) and more to criminal drug cartels located in any number of countries. You see the result of this every day in the drug war, the drug war has killed tens of thousands, ruined millions lives, and has resulted in the largest drug trade ever. The millions of lives that have been touched by drugs and ruined simply by association(The government destroyed their lives by not allowing them the right to their own body) with drugs, could have been simply avoided. Currently, we are in the biggest age of ignorance and stupidity when it comes to drugs, this is BECAUSE of the war on drugs. The war on drugs enforces ignorance of drugs in order to make its points seem valid, you obviously can not wage a war on a substance that is killing no one, is doing no one harm, and is even proved to help many, many people. This is what prohibition does, and it doesnt even meet its goal of having drugs wiped out. In fact, drugs become more common and more dangerous under a prohibition due to the total lack of regulation of the industry. Why do you argue a prohibition is a good thing? The second point Im making is that you think its wrong to do drugs. Thats your morality, thats what you believe in, and thats fine. You do not have to, you will never be forced to, society is not about to tell you to do drugs(Oh wait, its already telling you to drink). However, you are legislating your morality onto others, this is wrong. People have the freedom to own their own bodies and do what they want with them. Ingesting a basically harmless drug(Harmless compared to even tylenol.) to enjoy a temporary state of mind, escape pain, or otherwise be relaxed is not wrong. I fail to see how it can be wrong in anyway when we say its ok to drink alcohol, and its ok to smoke cigarettes, two things that have been behind millions, and millions of deaths. You might argue that drugs will be the collapse of civilization as we know it, but thats not true, and never could be. Until a drug comes along that kills you simply by taking it, and kills everyone around you, drugs will not end us. Civilization will not degrade, performance will not degrade, those people that are already dumb and already dragging on society would be with, or without drugs. Education would help to fix this problem, on all fronts.
