The people in my unit know I am a brony, and I named the helicopter I am assigned to maintain after a character from the show that has a name that passes as a normal one for a helicopter. Assuming he wasn't fired for other reasons he didn't want to mention.
Yeah that'll show him.
It's more so you'll look back at this thread several years from now and cringe with embarrassment, kind of like re-reading stupid opinion papers you wrote in middle school.

What the actual fuck
They aren't comparable, not in the fucking slightest. One is a sexuality that you don't have control over, and the other is a preference in entertainment that will most likely change over time. They are absolutely incomparable, and I'll say this for the third or fourth time, you should be ashamed of yourself for even comparing them.
What makes them not comparable in the slightest? One is a sexual preference and the other is a preference in entertainment. They are completely comparable, and I'll say this for a third or fourth time, stop resorting to a personal insult because you can't come up with a legitimate argument.
Just because other preferences don't have the same implications as sexual ones doesn't make them choices, and how is the fact that they can change over time relevant at all?
Fuck you to anyone who rated this winner. I am not a "bronyfag" and I hate MLP myself, but this is wrong on ludicruous levels and you think its okay? This guy had his entire feeding program for his family revoked just because he likes watching cartoons?
the difference is gay lifestyle is an actual, serious thing, and a brony lifestyle is taking a show too far and identifying as a brony over a show.
YOU CANNOT CHOOSE TO IDENTIFY AS GAY OR STRAIGHT, but you can hide it a little bit, but that changes nothing. Then when you identify as a brony, it's because you like the show, but you don't have to identify as a brony as all just because you like a show.
the difference is gays have a huge history of being beaten to death and even even just directly killed and bronies don't
the difference is that you can like the show, you aren't forced to have desk top wall papers or be surrounded by "brony culture". Being gay, female or black you have no choice but to accept their 'culture'
the difference is ultimately this
being picked on for being a brony is most likely because "It's gay" not because of the show itself
Just because I like star trek doesn't mean I need to identify as a trekky and I'm not going to give a shit about being picked on for it. I will however, give a shit about being beat up for being gay.
I find it disgusting you would actually compare being a brony to being gay. That is hardcore ignorant.

I don't even think this is a legitimate story. You have a picture of a pony as the background to what is most likely your work computer and your asking "How did my Boss know that?"
Then there's him telling his Boss' daughter about how he has a nice shirt because its from MLP. If I was his boss and I had just finish told him to stop with the MLP stuff and the next thing he does is congratulate my daughter on MLP then I'd be pretty grossed out about his incessant need to somehow relate to ponies.
Lastly, the guy see's his coworkers having a talk about Bronies and after being warned twice he still
engages in more mlp convos.
Honestly if this story is true then he probably left some things out of it especialy since the last few parts make it seem like he was extremely proud of being a Brony and what not (Which is fucking weird).
I'm not trying to say he should be fired but come on. Its a show about ponies and you don't need to argue with your boss about it or I don't know keep getting involved with pony shit at the work place. Its not worth the time and effort
Because all the events that led up to his firing happened immediately one right after another instead of over the course of a year.

My guess is that he started to get confrontational about other people not liking it as much as he did and he said something stupid in one of the altercations that got him fired.

What is being a closeted gay herpaderp.
um just so we're all clear here, this report is not done by CNN, it's part of their stupid "ireport" shit aka "Do our job for us thx"
and i wouldn't put my trust in a reddit post lol
What is being a closeted gay herpaderp.
"the difference is that you can like the show, you aren't forced to have desk top wall papers or be surrounded by "SS Officer culture". Being gay, female or black you have no choice but to accept their 'culture'"
did you read a thing
the difference is also people making fun of gays really hurts you and scares you if your closeted
and a show is a very unserious matter, especially compared to your entire life's identity. Someone making fun of a show can't possibly hurt as much as it would for gays, blacks, or women, unless you're an idiot and take the show far too seriously.
What is being a closeted gay herpaderp.
You mean the same closeted gays who have been known to commit suicide over it?
Well played.
It took the pilots around eight months to figure it out. One of the pilot's daughters was watching the show and the episode that featured said character was on. They came to work and said "Well played." Character's name is Spitfire. Other helicopters in the fleet are Annihilatrix, Problem Child, Maharaja, Doc Holiday, Cry Havoc, among others.

It's the same fucking issue, just with a massive difference in scale and importance.

it's not the same issue at all.
Can you please just get this through your thick skull.
In fact, even comparing the two no matter how much you say "It has a massive difference in scale" belittles gays.
One is "Chose to admit your a brony" the other is "Your a black / gay / woman, that's that, that's you"
learn the fucking difference.
You mean the same closeted gays who have been known to commit suicide over it?
Yes, I do. It's a horrible thing but they can hide the fact that they are gay, all I'm saying is that it's absolutely comparable to someone having to hide the fact that they like x or be fired/whatever. And I have clearly said being a brony is more petty.
wow you're all disgusting people. he wasn't even the worst kind of brony and his behavior didn't come off as excessive or overbearing at all.
and yet the first post with ~55 agrees calls for him to be executed because he likes something you don't like. his workplace discriminated against him on a terrible bias and he got fired for something on par with being enthusiastic about guns and weaponry.
because if he loves guns, talks about and is passionate for firearms, he's going to bring them into work one day and maybe shoot someone, right? because he likes a cartoon with a target demographic that rests <11yrs he's going to molest someone, maybe his boss's daughter, right?
gg nobody posting in this thread procreate please i don't want this shit in the pool for any of my children to have to endure in the future

Some people simply cannot choose to hide it
and the difference is if they hide it they have to hide WHO THEY ARE as a person around people that are physically sickened by gays.
VS liking a show.
Welcome to the middle schoolers favorite bigoted argument folks.
its pretty obvious you don't have any actual idea of the shit gays have to listen to. (which funny thing actually includes idiots like you)
or have literally any idea what you are even saying
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bigot
a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)
because I'm totally hating on bronies. Right.
I said many times the dude shouldn't have been fired.
Target audience real/audience disparity of MLP is nontrivial. From the other side of the looking glass (as a parent and/or not some internet-savvy person and/or Fox News watcher) a show that attracts young girls and men about the average age and description of stereotypical sex offenders is kind of a thing. ***I am not implying that MLP fans are sex offenders, but dealing in visual stereotypes alone there can occasionally be parallels***
The only real difference there is that one is generally aimed at girls, while the other is generally aimed at boys/gender-neutral (so the real problem seems to be men liking something perceived as feminine). And yeah, I get how people come to that sort of conclusion, but from an objective standpoint it doesn't really make much sense, and shouldn't be the basis for firing someone.
Also video games are now completely mainstream, as anyone that doesn't have a completely grey head of hair has played them. It's a mutli-billion dollar industry that has target demographics up and down the board. I don't rattle off to my boss how I spend hundreds of dollars on my gaming rig and games though, or that at the end of the day, I go home and shoot at virtual zombies.
And what if the boss has a completely grey head of hair? :P
Please elaborate. I'm providing valid points and you're dismissing them with petty insults and straw man arguments.
how about I say it
bronyism isn't a civil or social rights issue and you should stop comparing it to the plight of human beings who have suffered across generations for being born a certain skin color or have deep internal conflicts about who they physically and/or mentally are
bronies get picked on, yeah. So do a lot of other fandoms, it's just exemplified a lot as being the most out-there. Don't get disillusioned by the amplitude of hate on the internet you've seen for a few years (which aside from occasional threads seems to be all but gone), flailing around like you are is literally the only reason it has ever become an issue.
Yes, I do. It's a horrible thing but they can hide the fact that they are gay, all I'm saying is that it's absolutely comparable to someone having to hide the fact that they like x or be fired/whatever. And I have clearly said being a brony is more petty.
Calling it "just more petty" is still comparing apples to door hinges.
Cut this dumb argument and get back onto the fact this story still sounds fake as hell and was likely written with the inevitable arguments in mind

i don't have to read the thread you're all pretty horrible regardless tbh
anyone who thinks "closeted brony" is a real thing hasn't experienced the real world yet
I love how everybody complains about immaturity in workplaces when they're immature themselfs.
