bronyism isn't a civil or social rights issue and you should stop comparing it to the plight of human beings who have suffered across generations for being born a certain skin color or have deep internal conflicts about who they physically and/or mentally are.
this, so much you can't possibly compare being part of a fandom to something like your race or anything other. A fandom is something you willingly chose to be a part of, and unlike your race or sexual orientation its something you can quit at any given moment. that being said, firing someone because of it is pretty dumb in itself
how about I say it bronyism isn't a civil or social rights issue and you should stop comparing it to the plight of human beings who have suffered across generations for being born a certain skin color or have deep internal conflicts about who they physically and/or mentally are bronies get picked on, yeah. So do a lot of other fandoms, it's just exemplified a lot as being the most out-there. Don't get disillusioned by the amplitude of hate on the internet you've seen for a few years (which aside from occasional threads seems to be all but gone), flailing around like you are is literally the only reason it has ever become an issue. Calling it "just more petty" is still comparing apples to door hinges. Cut this dumb argument and get back onto the fact this story still sounds fake as hell and was likely written with the inevitable arguments in mind
if he doesn't listen to daijitsu of all people something is wrong with him. but yeah shouldn't of been fired but it smells like rotten apples on the bronies part.
Way to ruin your life by jacking off to cartoon horses and admitting it to your supervisors.
That was unnecessary and excessive.
Trust facepunch to turn a discussion about someone being fired for having a trivial interest, that should never have been considered as a reason to be fired into a full on war on social rights issues and comparisons between the two.
If this is true then it's terrible. You shouldn't be able to get fired for liking a show. But we're only hearing his side of the story, we can't know for sure if it's true (I hope it isn't)
thank god mlp is the worst thing conceived by mankind anyone who watches it should reconsider their life and think where they went so horribly wrong.
So somebody should reconsider their life because they watch a fucking show? hahaha holy shit dude...
Cut this dumb argument and get back onto the fact this story still sounds fake as hell and was likely written with the inevitable arguments in mind
i'd like to know what you're basing this assumption on.
i'd like to know what you're basing this assumption on.
Probably because of the fact that this story comes from a reddit post
"YOU CANNOT CHOOSE TO IDENTIFY AS GAY OR STRAIGHT, but you can hide it a little bit, but that changes nothing. Then when you identify as a brony, it's because you like the show, but you don't have to identify as a brony as all just because you like a show." "the difference is that you can like the show, you aren't forced to have desk top wall papers or be surrounded by "SS Officer culture". Being gay, female or black you have no choice but to accept their 'culture'" did you read a thing the difference is also people making fun of gays really hurts you and scares you if your closeted and a show is a very unserious matter, especially compared to your entire life's identity. Someone making fun of a show can't possibly hurt as much as it would for gays, blacks, or women, unless you're an idiot and take the show far too seriously.
Honestly people who are treating being a fan of MLP as anything more than a preference are blowing the whole thing way out of proportion, and it's pretty damn pathetic to shame people for shit like that since that's basically like calling someone out on liking GMod just due to kids playing it. Because really, just one small thing totally defines a person as a whole.
I don't know, seems kinda fishy. I've met A LOT of bronies in my high school, and if there's anything I know about them is that they lie....like way more than other people. Now, it may not be the same for other people, and I'm not saying EVERY brony is like this, but there's definitely a minority there, so I can't really trust what this guy is saying, because for all I know he could be a pathological liar and there's more than meets the eye. Then again, I could be totally wrong and be a massive douche.
you can literally replace all pony-related words in this thread with anime-related words and the context would not change at all.
Im not a fan of MLP, but i think the guy should really get revenge, i mean in such as dreary job, he must've heard some things...abortions or whatever that the other employee's spouses doesn't know about....shame if they leaked out..or even something such as pedophilia... Or maybe even the boss could be heralded as a social pariah and somehow ended up watching MLP...
you can literally replace all pony-related words in this thread with anime-related words and the context would not change at all.
Or to Nazi, as someone else did before.
you can literally replace all pony-related words in this thread with anime-related words and the context would not change at all.
Its shitty liking both...
That's incredibly unethical. Bosses can pretty much fire you for whatever reason they want though. Not much he could do.
Its shitty liking both...
I bet your title influenced you to say that :(
Man Fired for Being a Potential pedophile
What's next, complimenting a womans shirt is being a potential rapist?
Imagine the following POV: Theres this guy working with you, he barely talks to anybody:
(I do nothing but sit in my little hell-cube and do work all day, I hardly interact with anybody)
He "covertly" uses pony desktop backgrounds.
On my work computer I had decided to set a picture of Applejack as my desktop background
Refuses to understand that people don't want you to talk about it: (bonus for being creepy, yes, some people find that creepy.)
yway a few weeks after having no issues with it I got called in by my boss who essentially tells me it's weird and it makes people uncomfortable that I have a "tv show for little girls as a background" (how did he know about it?) but I acknowledge this, keep my head down and change it back to the standard default background

<...>ring a Rainbow Dash shirt. As we were doing introductions, I told her I liked her shirt , some<...>
And this my fellas, is why all this discussion is pointless before hearing the other side of the story.
What's next, complimenting a womans shirt is being a potential rapist?
complimenting work boots is now considered "Extreme homosexual tendencies"
He "covertly" uses pony desktop backgrounds.
Having an AppleJack background is kind of fucked up.
Having an AppleJack background is kind of fucked up.
Having an Anime avatar is kinda fucked up.
Having an Anime avatar is kinda fucked up.
Well John Lennon is a dick.
This just sounds ludicrous. but why the fuck would you have an applejack wallpaper or talk about "Brony culture". like, WHAT DO YOU GOD DAMN EXPECT. Title because extensions "Man Fired for Being a SS Officer" yeah sounds reasonable fucking SS officers!
A bit late but where can i get this extension?
Well John Lennon is a dick.
This is true.
So he didn't even go around parading the fact that he likes it all the time like wearing shirts and stuff? And they fired him because he mentioned he liked the show once? Not only is that completely stupid but I also think that's not even allowed.
You'd be supprised with what bullshit excuses companies make up to get rid of employees, my dad was shouted at and called a shithead by his boss then fired a week later because he trumped up all this crap about him not doing work
Having an AppleJack background is kind of fucked up.
Isn't that a kind of beverage?
Well John Lennon is a dick.
Well... middle aged Gordon Freeman shouldn't have gotten contact lenses?
Also its hard to fight cases like this because it generally comes down to he said this, they said that and nobody is going to testify because they want to keep their jobs
