If he was fired for liking Adventure Time, most of Facepunch would be up in arms about it. Also:
CNN PRODUCER NOTE CNN has not verified this report, though we are looking into it. If you know anything about the incident or have other insight to add, please upload an iReport or add to the comments below. - katie, CNN iReport producer
Looks like CNN is interested in this story and looking into it.
You see the problem with this logic? All the guy did was watch a TV show his boss didn't like.
Are you seriously trying to imply that a bunch of greasy neckbeards who watch a cartoon for 7 year olds are oppressed like women, black people and homosexuals? This firing wasn't very justified, but jesus christ, people need to stop treating this brony thing like a sexuality. Telling people that you watch a cartoon isn't like coming out of the closet Bronies seem to completely forget who they are.
Maybe he should have shut up about a kid's show he jerks off to?
Also its hard to fight cases like this because it generally comes down to he said this, they said that and nobody is going to testify because they want to keep their jobs
What case? Being a brony is not a protected class, nor is it a public policy exception. Considering how much he refers to his job as a shithole, I would be genuinely surprised to find out that he was not employed at-will. In such a case, no court in the country will even bother listening to whatever he or they said, because the bottom line is employees can generally be fired for any reason or even no reason.
Having an Anime avatar is kinda fucked up.
An anime avatar on a relatively anonymous image board is a bit different than having a My Little Pony desktop background on your work computer, you'd have to be incredibly out of touch to think that's remotely socially acceptable. Really the boss isn't that much of an asshole, he's just normal.
This is like being fired for liking milk chocolate. He could have had a wallpaper of his favorite brand, then complimented the girl's taste in milk chocolate. It's really just people not liking things. And I like milk chocolate.
This reminds me of when I was working at Walmart and I said that I like to play computer games, the next thing I know they stuck me in the back room stocking with all these Weeaboos and bronies

For fuck's sake if you're repeatedly asked not to bring up a kid's cartoon then maybe you should do it. Bronies aren't a protected class and I don't get why some people are acting like they are.

The first thing was just having a desktop background - not really bringing it up; the second thing yeah, he brought it up; the third thing was people already having a conversation about it which he joined in because, you know, they were talking shit about something he liked, what was he supposed to do?

Bronies are generally losers and smell funny.
hey touhou is cool don't h8
I have nothing against it, I'm just trying to put the situation in perspective. And by nothing against it I mean I don't play the games but thoroughly enjoy the porn.
The most impressive part of this story is that people actually believe his story. After all, no one lies on the internet!
Good riddance. Workplace is no place for immaturity.
Yeah, well, neither are these forums.
How did I know this story would get posted here. The storm of shitty comments is not surprising.
he likes a show I don't like and got fired for it my brain doesn't work so I think this is totally acceptable and that no terrible precedent is set by this
he likes a show I don't like and got fired for it my brain doesn't work so I think this is totally acceptable and that no terrible precedent is set by this
it's ok zeke he's a brony so that means he has to be lying.
Ludicrous!
It doesn't matter if this was over a course of months,he was repeatedly asked not to talk about My Little Pony but did so anyways. I mean seriously how hard is that to do? He could have just stopped mentioning it at work but no this poor man is obviously being oppressed cause he was told not to talk about cartoon horses or the creepy culture surrounding them.
You see the problem with this logic? All the guy did was watch a TV show his boss didn't like.
Yes because an internet jab directed at a very cancerous internet fandom is on par with the multi-century mistreating of ethnic minorities.

[editline]30th September 2013[/editline] not to mention he only brought it up TWICE over the course of several months and both times were because someone else brought it up first (the daughter wearing the shirt, the other coworkers talking about it)
cos talkin about sports is normal for adults and not weird
im sorry other people having different opinions makes you uncomfortable i hope one day you learn that everyone is different and just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's bad
Regardless of how you feel about bronies, that is a pretty stupid reason to fire someone.
cos talkin about sports is normal for adults and not weird
the belief that there are certain interests you are "allowed" to have depending on your age, sex, job etc. and deviating from that set of interests gets you ridiculed and ostracized is quite frankly, the most idiotic thing i've ever heard of.
