So people shouldn't just make these religious practices when they're older? Why do you have to do it on a baby? What reason do you even have to not wait? Why not wait till around puberty? The cutting of the skin is symbolic to cleanliness and staying away from sex, so why do it so early when it's risky?

We don't hate religion, but we do hate pointless, dangerous procedures being carried out on children. The fact that religion is part of it has nothing to do with the fact it's done, look at America, so many children have it done despite their parents not being religious. It's called conformity.

I had it done when I was born and I really don't see the point. My mom is a christian, but my dad isn't and nor am I. I really wish my dad had stepped in and said "wait maybe he doesn't want the skin that makes no difference anyway removed."

The argument is that you shouldn't remove a part of the body for no reason.
You don't need your foreskin, true, but it isn't likely to kill you if left alone. That said, there are times which require circumcision, shit, I'm friends with a guy who was cut for medical reasons.
The appendix doesn't do a whole lot, and removing it at birth would remove the risk of death by appendicitis later in life, but we don't perform that operation on newborns because it's not necessary and invasive.
Circumcision as a choice, I have no issues with. It's the equivalent of forcing a child to have one of those lip stretcher things. Sure, there mightn't be any medical concerns with it being put in, but it should be up to the child to make that choice.

And in reality, who the fuck cares. The whole " its religiod atakin are rites " is BS, atheists and scientists can do as much harm as religious fanatics ( remember nukes?).
