That's all satire it's not real. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] It's also parody of this: http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/model-s-owner-tennessee and the media response to Teslas having everyday problems. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] For an actual list of shit elon has said, see: http://shitelonsays.com/
The fuck cant tell if this is supposed to be a joke, or if this guy has gone full retard
I said it was humour in the post, it makes fun of the overreaction to a couple car fires and Elon Musk's deflection from them in interviews
It's obvious it's a joke site.
Not so obvious when im on mobile and can only see the article itself. I assumed it was a blog, taking quotes and slapping together an article [editline]26th February 2014[/editline]
I said it was humour in the post, it makes fun of the overreaction to a couple car fires and Elon Musk's deflection from them in interviews
Its easy to tell its humour as in meant to be funny, i just had no idea whether any of the quotes were authentic and whether it was meant to be pure satire. I also don't read things this Elon guy says regularly. For all i knew, he had a few screws loose and was mental enough to seriously say that
I'm glad for Tesla, they've worked very hard to produce a very safe and viable pure electric car People give it flak for the off chance one catches fire too. On the off chance it does break down and catch fire, it warns the driver about it. No other car that I'm aware of has a system remotely like it. Also they've got an 11" touchscreen interface for the center console, now that's fucking rad.
It's way better looking than that MR2 in your profile pic.
Alright, now we have a serious problem.
The first thing I will do in 5 years after finishing college, is move to Europe -Poland or Germany preferably- to get a loan and buy a Tesla. Fuck the apartment and my job, they can wait, priorities are priorities
Also they've got an 11" touchscreen interface for the center console, now that's fucking rad.
I stayed for a month in an Uncle's house in Virginia, and I was able to get into a Tesla at a mall in Fairfax. That touch screen....I have never seen anything like it, it's just plain amazing, you control every aspect of the car from it.... In fact, Tesla encouraged me to study Engineering along Economics... PS: Yes, as you can see, I'm extremely hyped about Tesla. And I'm gonna be the Musk of Argentina. My car will be called....Ohm (Hahaha, now that would be a PR fail)
I think this is a good time to mention that Tesla wants to spend 2 billion dollars on the worlds biggest battery factory, powered by wind and solar. With 3 billion pitched in from various partners. http://www.forbes.com/sites/michelinemaynard/2014/02/26/elon-musks-risky-5-billion-plan-to-control-teslas-fate/ That Tesla thing is just a fad, it'll never take off.
That Tesla thing is just a fad, it'll never take off.
Some areas itll take off in, others it wont. Also depends on future models. As far as the model S, it is gigantic, heavy, and depending on where you are, costs about as much to buy as a decent house
Oh god no, pigfat huge car. Should be more like a Lotus Elise, bigger isn't better.
It is if you want to survive in the American car market. Smart Cars have more or less failed here, supposedly they're more popular in Europe and Australia. And for much of Asia, their cars are already small. But Americans just like needlessly large cars.
If $110,000 can get you a nice house, I need to move.
Where im from, thats a lot for a house. Even where im living now, $110k can get you quite a ways My family recently looked into purchasing a 2000 sq-ft, 3 bed 2 bath house with two acres of land (option to purchase two more acres) for about 70k. Before that, we were looking into a 2200 sq-ft house, 3 bed 2 bath house with 5 acres of land along with a pond. That was $44k. If youre the subdivision/townhouse type, a 1400 sq-ft with single car garage, brand new, is in the $110k range. Of course, a decent house varies from person to person. I grew up in a 900 sq-ft house that was 2 bed 1 bath, a 1400 sq-ft house is gigantic to me
What's next? Bring it to competition? Just like what Toyota did to their Prius?

You can't possibly have an electric-only car pumping out 224kW almost constantly and lasting the entire length of a Super GT race.
It looks a lot better than the Nissan Leaf. Tesla is proving that electric cars can look cool. Also Tesla is coming to Australia: http://www.cnet.com.au/the-tesla-model-s-is-coming-to-australia-soon-339345861.htm
It doesn't even look like a prius, and it is most likely a tube-frame with composite body panels and only a traditional combustion engine.
Holy cow I had no idea that the Tesla stocks were doing so good. I guess in the end with the only a few handful of isolated incidents of bricking, fire, etc they're no less reliable than any other manufacturer on the road... which is saying something for a startup company that's not particularly old.

This car screams "GRRRRRR, ANGRY HEADLIGHTS!"
This car screams "GRRRRRR, ANGRY HEADLIGHTS!"
Pfft, everyone knows angry headlights make the car awesome. Admittedly you might need a penis for that, but still.
I like the idea and I like how it's not some "randomly flowy lines" designed car, but it is very far from a perfect car. We don't know anything about the reliability, the interface on the iPad like system was unresponsive and slow when I tried it (and you cannot really use it while driving at all) and the range isn't very good. Those are just some of the things I'd like to see Tesla work on (although the range problem seems to be worked on progressively). To add to that, some of you people need to stop mindlessly defending the car. Yes, it's nice but it still has many flaws that need to be solved.
A Tesla should be very reliable - there really isn't much to the car's drivetrain. It's a couple motors and a bunch of batteries, really. It doesn't have all the belts and fans and shit that a regular ICE car has. The only reliability issues I can see (beyond the battery lifetime) is build quality and programming :v: The touchscreen does seem very gimmicky. Not having physical buttons makes it pretty much impossible to use without taking your eyes off the road.

It's non-specific, but I think the warning that the Model S gives is just a generic "stop driving!" one too. Could probably be added in a patch though.
Unless some newer cars have sensors in the gas tank, the only warning you'll get is a puddle of gas under the tank. :v:
Wouldn't a hole in the gas tank trigger an error in the oxygen sensor, which have been around since the 80s, at least? I assumed that's also why the check engine light comes on if your gas cap isn't tightened properly.
Can't say I'm surprised. It's probably the first true electric car I wouldn't be embarrassed to own.
I agree until someone asked how much I paid for it. Guess that's the balance though.
Eh, you might be right actually, it usually doesn't have anything to do with o2 sensors. It throws a code for the gas cap because it's a vacuum leak. The gas tank is meant to be sealed and pressurized, er negative pressure.
Here's a short walkthrough of the display: The dashboard gauges are also a screen and you can customize what goes where for easier viewing. It can also be controlled from buttons on the steering wheel. A full walk through and more on the screen here: http://www.teslamotors.com/models/walkthrough The full video addresses one of your previous questions, Zeke. Since the rear doors are fully electric, there are manual handles under the seats to get out.
This car screams "GRRRRRR, ANGRY HEADLIGHTS!"
You think that's angry?
You think that's angry? Then what's this?
Compensating.
You think that's angry? Then what's this?
0/10 not angry enough; rear exhaust pipes perfect potato holders; wouldn't fuck
Compensating.
Sure you didn't mean constipated?
Compensating.
It's not really "compensating" because nobody's gonna buy that car for its looks.
