Women are often social in their bathroom visits whereas men are precisely the opposite and even if holding a conversation prior to entering the bathroom, will temporarily stop talking in order to use the restroom. Ever noticed how quiet men's bathrooms are? It is eerie. Think about using a urinal in a bathroom filled with women. This one is personal, and as I said it was a personal preference overall, but I'd prefer not to use the urinal with women around. Taking my dick out and basically peeing on a wall is weird and disgusting enough without the fairer sex around. We all feel varying degrees of discomfort at using public restrooms. Separating the bathrooms by personal plumbing seems to mitigate this problem to a degree for a significant portion of the population, even with the presence of homosexuality and transgendered individuals, people still seem to be more comfortable around people with the same chromosomal sex. So basically we come down to this: -Retain the current segregation based on sex. The vast majority of individuals likely feel okay with this. People appreciate having a place to temporarily escape from the mask they wear in front of the opposite sex in order to reapply makeup or take a dump. -Allow something in-between. Undoubtedly the best option, buuuuut only if people are honest. The first guy who hangs out in the wrong bathroom under the umbrella protection of being transgendered, or even simply homosexual, will be a nightmare case in terms of legality. What happens with bisexual people? What happens with bisexual people with a specific lean? How do you prove sexual preference? You create a legal nightmare. -Remove segregation entirely. The fairest option, but ultimately the least socially pleasant. Who knows what the consequences here are.

It's a simple matter of what they are physically. One can identify as whatever gender as they want, but if they have a dick they use the men's room and if they don't they use the women's room. Simple. No need to make a fuss over it.

There's generally no urinals. Assaults tend to be lower due to the increased risk that another man will intervene. Most of the objections seem to be based on culturally contingent factors that are a result of growing up in a kyriarchal society that has segregated bathrooms. I think that people shouldn't wear 'masks' in front of the other sex, and a more holistic understanding of people of the other sex as humans with the same need to piss and shit would tend to be more conducive to social relations on an equal level.

Why don't we just have Unisex bathrooms everywhere?

If I were a girl, I wouldn't like that a guy come in the female bathroom just because he pretends he feels like being a girl. And if he can't stand to go in the male bathroom, then unisex bathroom wouldn't be better for him.

As soon as I walked in you could almost hear his nether regions clamping up and the torrential rain of shit stop. I sat down in the only other stall, did my business, washing my hands about 5 minutes later and as soon as I leave I hear some of the loudest most grotesque farts I've ever heard erupt from the bowels of the bathroom.
