I agree, that is why it seems silly for the UK not to try to get the "Swiss card" where they only have to comply with EU standards when trading with the EU, can trade as a member state, and still be able to produce their own trade laws and negotiations outside the EU.
Good, the American culture of huge bonuses for idiotic risks and mismanagement clearly contributed to the crash. Too bad we aren't smart enough or motivated enough to do something about it on this side of the pond.
