#AUSPOL STRAYA ELECTIONS 2K16 - MALCOLM TURNBULL REMAINS PRIME MINISTER.

Watching Xenophon talk in Adelaide today, it seems less likely that he would support the Labor Party in a hung parliament. He said he would support the party that listens to the crossbench, but he also accused Labor of running a deceitful and misleading campaign against the NXT on penalty rates, where the NXT couldn't afford to run ads to defend themselves.
He also made a good point on how politicians aren't held to the same false advertising laws as businesses are. Labor were really dirty at this election (they were also deceitful on their claims of Turnbull's stance on Medicare) and it's a shame that they were rewarded for it.
Ditch the witch.
There was also the whole non-christian social workers no longer receive funding from the government that no one ever seemed to mention.
That was huge, I used to work in schools, knew a lot of really good social workers that really made a difference, they will have either lost their jobs or put enormous pressure on their schools budget in order to stay.
That and religion has no place in schools.

Renewable energy gives plenty of jobs and growth.
There are a lot of studies about it just google it.
Here's an article with a bunch of real world results http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/articles/2015/01/fact-sheet-renewable-energy-job-numbers.html
They have their reasons for not implementing renewables, it's all to please the mining industry.
Do you even Realise who my avatar is? And what because it is a german man you quickly presume I am a facist. Pathetic.
and how does destroying one industry slowly but creating a new one actually make new jobs, its just a displacement of jobs.
To be fair he was full gas toward privatisation before the election, he had a $5million dollar privatisation taskforce ffs.
Then he suddenly ditches it and covers it up just before the election, now trying to spin it as labor lying, which if it goes to another vote will be very very good for them.
If they do get a majority government after a re-vote he will more than likely slowly head towards privatisation after some time has passed for people to forget.

Had nothing to do with your avatar. Just a bit of probing the opposition.

That privatisation taskforce was looking into just the payment system itself. Not the entirety of Medicare. Even the President of the Australian Medical Association said Labor's campaigning was bogus and misleading http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-06-22/election-2016-medicare-ama-bill-shorten/7531978
Federal Health Minister Sussan Ley insists the Government is not privatising Medicare but is only looking at ways to bring the payments system into the "21st century".
Ms Ley's department has set up a taskforce to consider the "commercial provision of health and aged care payment services".
"We're not privatising Medicare... but shouldn't taxpayers demand we step into the 21st century when it comes to the payment system?" Ms Ley told ABC Radio National.
Even as Shorten is speaking right now in Melbourne, all he's doing is criticising Turnbull. As someone who voted Labor #1 in 2013, this negative campaigning is absolutely appalling.
Yeah, I guess you're right. Was pretty shit of Labor.
Still hope they get a Majority.
The irony of people complaining about labor shit talking and scare campaigning, when Liberals do nothing but that for every election always. Labor has just finally picked up on tactics that worked.
Lets be honest, all parties are guilty of fear mongering around election time, even the Greens. I remember last time they had that one ad with the Uni students piggy backing each other to show "overflowing underfunded education" or some shit. No use pretending that there's a perfect party, they all have things you'll agree and disagree with.

There is far more to renewable energy than creating direct renewable energy jobs. You have to look at what increasing energy prices will do to energy intensive industries like aluminium and steel smelting, and mining.
We really do not need to make the world's third highest electricity prices even higher; which is what is going to happen with massive intermittent energy penetration.
so AEC says 71-67 seats, Labour is winning in that regard, but then two-party votes have 50.06% for coalition and 49.94% for Labour. what happens if more seats for labour but more votes for liberal?

What do you think? The PM is elected by seats.
oh fuck double post.
and dude, i don't know, that's why i'm asking
Placed a $20 bet on Sportsbet for Labor to be sworn in. Hoping for a $84 return and for my government to get in yay

One of the major problems I noticed with left leaning parties in the Anglosphere is they are more reluctant to play dirty until they've lost a few elections to the Tories.
Is it possible for the labour party to form a coalition government with the greens or would that be redundant?
I would think that greens policies would be way too left wing to fit in with labor, but maybe someone who knows politics better could give a better explanation
Is it possible for the labour party to form a coalition government with the greens or would that be redundant?
The leader of Labor, Bill Shorten, completely ruled that out. They might be ideologically close in some ways, but they hate each other. Speaking broadly here, but it's a habit of parties on the political left to absolutely despise each other and for the whole political left to become disunited. Labor has a socialist internal faction, but there are literally several other socialist groups in Australia (Socialist Alliance, Socialist Equality Party etc), then there's the new left such as the Greens.
They have formed alliances in the past though, eg the last Labor government wanted to implement an emissions trading scheme, but the Greens (who held the balance of power) pressured Labor to adopt a carbon tax instead. Then Abbott got in and he repealed that.
[editline]3rd July 2016[/editline]
But anyways it's looking like the Liberals will be forming government possibly with the support of the crossbench. One of the independents, Andrew Wilkie, has already ruled that out. That still leaves others such as up to two Nick Xenophon Team MPs, Bob Katter (who's already drawing up a wishlist of things for if he agrees to provide supply for a government) and even up to two Greens MPs. It's worth noting that the reason we had this election early is because of an unlikely, temporary alliance between the Liberals and the Greens.
Greens wont make a deal with LNP because both parties reject each other
NXT might
Katter obviously will WITH conditions (such as that wishlist)

Really simple solution: Instead of going to the local school or community centre to vote, we should just go to the nearest Bunnings

Exactly. The art of shit talking & scaremongering go back as far as before federation in this country.
My former co-worker, who's doing after election counts, has just sent me an update.
Not sure if it's AU wide, or just for her division, but they're doing a recount of every vote.

Edit: It's countrywide!

Last night's media watch was interesting. I had a feeling newspapers would not have that much effect this election, but I didn't think it would so weak. I hope it stays that way.
