Doesn't Jdownloader support other file-sharing websites as well?
It does, but JDownloader can't solve the captchas that are used in almost every filesharing site.
Anyway, good riddance. I hope more shitty filesharing sites will follow its demise.
Smell ya later Rapidshit.
but all the hosted content
Anything worth saving was probably taken down years ago.
Rapidshare, Imageshack, and Photobucket all remind me of a nightmare I grew up in.

there is a plugin that lets you trad captchas with other users, basically you sit down and solve like 20 captchas and once you're done someone else is solving your captchas while you're away

Is photobucket really that bad? I have an account there with some really old shit I uploaded, looking back at them is like a nostalgia.
Good riddance Rapidshit.
Websites that make you wait and cap your download speed unless you pay up loads don't have a place on the Internet nowadays.
Wait, Rapidshare was still up?
I hated rapidshare, why the fuck would I want to wait 30 seconds to download something?
Where one falls. 10 shall rise.

Easy there, Rasputin.
but all the hosted content
Would have been deleted anyways after some time without downloads for free accounts.
All I remember about Rapidshare was seeing that a file was linked to it and going
"Oh fuck no, not goddamn Rapidshare shit"
So this comes as no surprise.
WAITNG, the key word there.
Looking back, and seeing how they made us wait 1 minute to download a file... jesus christ, it's no wonder they're belly up now.
JDownloader 2 nicely circumvents all of those, for pretty much any of those free hosting sites.
You still have to solve most captchas manually, but that's it.
MEGA is where it's at.
I really hope Kim manages to keep it alive.
Kim usurping RapidShare would be damn awesome.
Archive Team will probably try

Hey, I'm in the channel right now as of a few minutes ago!
Chances are good we'll probably have to resort to the Twitch-style requests system when AT was grabbing old Twitch stuff that they were nuking literally not long after they got bought by Amazon.
I think we'll keep a counter for unique Longhorn builds found through any scrapes just for shits and giggles.
Is photobucket really that bad? I have an account there with some really old shit I uploaded, looking back at them is like a nostalgia.
Any image hosting site that loads a slow page with only a slightly larger image that requires multiple clicks to enlarge when you click on a thumbnailed image, instead of just directly linking to the image, is shit.
With the advent of hosts like Mega I'm baffled that people still use these "wait 30 seconds and download at 50 Kb/s unless you pay up" sites. Why do they do it? Do they just want to watch the world burn?

The feds shut down MegaUpload and confiscated the servers permanently, sooooo..
I absolutely hated that shitty site, 30 seconds, limited downloads, snail-slow speeds.
I remember people used to zip porn into like 25 archives and upload them individually to rapidshare.
Fucking hell when I wanted to download that porn - I didn't have hours to wait between god damn downloads.
Good it's gone.
Glad to see the demise of this site. I could never put up with the constant throttling that was imposed by that goddamned place. I would just cuss a blue streak every time I found a link with the rapidshare domain on it when searching the internet for mods, stuff, etc.
R.I.P. Rapishare - We will relish in your death.
I remember the day they imposed free user data caps, that was the day it died for me.
I can't wait for more broken and dead links now when you're troubleshooting something.
"Oh nevermind, fixed it ;) here's the link:"
Rapidshare was always awful.

I remember out 5 years ago it wasn't so bad. I mean, it did the job. Then I got Dropbox which was infinitely easier.
I'm happy Rapidshare is dying though. I remember a long ways back before Android file hosts, people would upload their ROMs to services like this and you would wait 50 minutes to download a 100 MB ROM file.

And then mega.co.nz sprung back up in its place, better than before.
