Why do they care again? It's not like people are forced to give out information. I have a facebook account too and I have minimal info on there.
It's because many, many stupid people like to give out personal information freely, without thinking about the consequences. [editline]12:35PM[/editline] BTW, check this out: http://www.quitfacebookday.com/
If you agree that Facebook doesn't respect you, your personal data or the future of the web, you may join us.
IMO I would pick the one on the left. I trust anyone who labels the OpenBSD group as "Masturbating monkeys" :v:
It's a close call, but Commodore>Masturbating Monkeys.
Set your relationship status to single on Facebook (assuming you use facebook) and then check your profile afterwards and tell me if you see an advert to the right of your profile saying "Want To Meet Hot Single Girls In Your Area?" or something similar. Facebook uses little gimmicks like that for their advertising, that's how they make revenue, I thought this was common knowledge?
Isn't that just generated in those ads on the side based on your info, not actually sent to marketing companies? It's like those "meet single women" ads that know what city you live in. They don't actually send your IP and the place you live to the company, I think it's just context-sensitive advertisement.
Hopefully they will make a social network which doesn't encourage attention whores and other idiots to join.
This.
