Drawing of Alien 'Ship':
I wonder if we'll start seeing this logo on future guns, flags etc [t]http://www.planetside-universe.com/media/album/zhfxsnuv2/vanu_logo.jpg[/t]
There's probably something in there that the Government does not want us to know about. Does it contain records of contact with alien visitors? Probably not. But like you said, why else would they redact it?
it's probably just some unpleasant contingency measures like Electrocuter said, but failing that it's far more likely they just think they've made contact with alien life but they don't want to startle the public. either that or they're just unsure about it and they don't want to tell anyone in case it turns out they've just been talking to a radio signal bouncing off a random satellite.
Sure is some interesting stuff in here: Also there's several sections called 'Visiting Forces' that have been completely redacted.
what the fuck
What's the point in making this available to the public if everything interesting and of importance is fucking redacted?
You fools, they're already here and around us! Can you not hear the cricket's humming? That's not cricket's humming, that's them charging their death ray!
Of course we would weaponize it if we did have the power to harness alien technology. How about instead, we harness it to make the world a better place. Rhetorically speaking
We'd never do that, you'd have to be a filthy Hippie to want to help people. :v:
Or maybe they know they've made contact and don't want to tell the public for other reasons.
I think it's far more likely that the government has fucked something up somewhere along the line than it is that there's actual aliens in talks with the government of a random decently-sized island on a world that they may or may not be anywhere near.
Oh c'mon as weapons? Don't we have enough? Can't we just harness the technology for something useful than destructive?

It's as if the governments treat these 7 billion people as the 'dumb masses', incapable of comprehending the existence of sentience beyond our own. For some reason (probably just me and very few others) I feel confident when I say Humanity would NOT panic and run for the hills and/or hunt for alien tech to weaponize when and if all of this data is released to the public in all it's unedited, unredacted form. Sadly however, the main worry (and a justified one) with releasing government secrets is the potential of having any of that data being used against you, warlike as we are. But just imagine, if there was no more angst and distrust among the entire Human race. No more guns pointed at eachother, smiles still on our faces. Imagine if all of Humanity would take their hands off their guns and turn their eyes to the heavens. The entire world working in unison to make the best of what we have.
It would be hilarious if when aliens actually met with humans, their level of technological development would be more or less the same as ours.
The truth?
Maybe their focus on weaponizing any technology they found is because they feared/fear an attack and thought they needed to have weapons on par with them.
It would be hilarious if when aliens actually met with humans, their level of technological development would be more or less the same as ours.
The reason we see aliens as more intelligent as us with better weapons is due to the fact that they've managed space travel to find another planet with life on it, whereas we haven't.

Are nukes not enough?

Jesus it's like I'm reading an article out of the SCP Foundation [sp]redacted[/sp]
The reason we see aliens as more intelligent as us with better weapons is due to the fact that they've managed space travel to find another planet with life on it, whereas we haven't.
If we are going to meet aliens, it's most likely going to be two space probes that discover the existence of each other.
Suppose the alien technology was a weapon in the first place, of course your going to use it. Not because of threats from other country, but because of threat of the weapons origin. And still, even if something recovered wasn't a weapon, alien technology would need to be reversed engineered into something defensive in case those extraterrestrials were hostile.
Of course we would weaponize it if we did have the power to harness alien technology. How about instead, we harness it to make the world a better place. Rhetorically speaking
Yes, we should. Except, this stuff seems to be contingencies for if an alien race did come and wasn't exactly friendly towards us. We cannot make assumptions about an alien species. They are not humanity. They won't have the same history as humanity. They won't have the same nature as us. We can't determine how they act- anything can happen. If weaponization of tech that's way ahead of ours gives us another advantage should shit hit the fan, then so be it. Use the tech to improve the world, but also use it to defend it.
So has anyone else found anything interesting from the documents? I've found several drawings and diagrams of purported alien spaceships, ancient cities left on earth that may have been inhabited by ancient aliens, hundreds of UFO and alien sightings, but perhaps the most interesting bits in here are the UFO sightings by UK and US Air Force Personel, where the sightings definitely aren't any type of known conventional or otherwise (experimental) military aircraft. There's over 6,700 pages of documents here and I've only began to pour over them.
Staff Meeting: "Jim, what is the status on the aliens?" "Still no aliens sir." "Alright then..to keep our paychecks, let's imagine what it would be like to have aliens and then write a report about it."
"Good on you, Jim"

You can bet that the Panama Canal would not have been built without explosives.

Does it describe what's on those recordings?
