Wow, with 75% of americans being fat by 2020, the catholic church going bankrupt, and now with superior brain function, the lanky atheist nerdes of Facepunch are set to take over the world.
I shall have you know I am neither lanky nor athiest. Nor a nerd. (I'm not smart enough to be a nerd.)
Seeing a thread about video games and scientific findings brought me to a simple conclusion and retort to the idea that children and young adults playing violent video games in turn makes them violent. As it seems if the media or concerned soccer moms notice their child or masses amounts of children doing one thing (gaming, reading comics, etc...) they draw negative conclusions out of it in an attempt to police the general population. But how is it positively true that a simple recreational activity (Such as gaming) can alter a person's behavior?
For example, you look at something like airsoft and notice that many of the players are either milsim competitors or your average kid who gets all their information from CoD, but playing airsoft doesn't turn you into some violent military killing machine. I bet that if Airsoft became the next "fad" like comics once were and now gaming is; it would be viewed upon negatively much more than it is now. When it comes down to it, concerned soccer moms will look for any reason to hate something they might remotely disagree with, even if it means them resorting to half-assed theories and "research".
Hurrah, hand-eye coordination. Our lives are all massively improved.
Doesn't EVERYTHING reorganize your brain?
They also plan to test female gamers for the same changes.[/release]
But wait, MRI machines are highly magnetic.
I feel like putting an MRI machine in the kitchen would really be a hazard with all those pots and cutlery and such.
Whew. Crisis avoided.
Watching one thing while manipulating something else with one's hands is the tricky bit.

Fuck that, anyone with a penis and an internet connection is a PRO at manipulating one thing while watching another.

WE ARE EVOLVING
The rest of the world is no match for our superior co-ordination!
So we can kick ass with guns.
This is great, I never realized how lucky I was.
This means my friends who doesn't play games have to watch their own penis while masturbating?
I'd like to see how different genres of games compare. For example, how hardcore FPS players and hardcore RTS players' brains would work.

I imagine that RTS players would form a more logical and strategic form of mind whereas FPS players would have faster reactions and be able to make crucial snap descisions.
