I just want a Tennant cameo....even a small one...
We all do my friend....we all do
Exactly this. Though there was more than enough space magic emotional bullshit still during the Tennant years. Personally, I think Smith makes a great doctor. He's a great actor and he gets the eccentricity right (unlike Tennant who really felt like he overdid it sometimes) It's just that the writing is fucking awful.
Moffat was so good when he wasn't head writer. The Library is still my favourite episode. He's still good occasionally, for example the first episode of S6. Anyway, with the ponds gone I hope this season half will improve, as it's a new start. [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] oh and Asylum of the Daleks was pretty awesome.
Why? I like Matt Smith. I loved David Tennant but Matt Smith is still a good Doctor. The problem is the writing in many episodes doesn't really give him room to shine. Seriously, so many episodes were about Amy Pond, a character that I could not stand. Rory was a good character, and he got better as the show went on. River was a fun character although I think they made her far too convoluted and confusing. But Matt Smith as the Doctor is fine, especially when he gets an episode that is all about him being the Doctor. Steven Moffat just really, really should let someone else take the reigns though, look how many stories he has where they day is saved by love or sadness or emotional crap like that. Most of the time emotions save the day and the Doctor had hardly anything to do with it.
I think Matt Smith is alright, but i don't like him as much as Tennant. He is still too silly, and i couldn't imagine him doing most of the more serious things things the previous two Doctors did E.g what happened to the Family of Blood or most of the things in this video: I'd be happy if they made things a bit darker. Some of the episodes have been really stupid, like last years Christmas episode or Closing Time.
Each regeneration of the Doctor is different. Same person, but the changes make their personalities different. Matt Smith's Doctor is supposed to be like that, he's supposed to be more playfully and childish. Though he obviously has a darker side that he hides, which can be seen at times like with the one with the dinosaurs on the space ship. And the ones where he is a bit more awkward, blame the writing, not Matt Smith.
I dont blame smith as an actor, I have no doubt he is a good actor, I just dont like the role that has been written for him. Plus like I mentioned they dont really bring in too many new monsters or planets anymore.
Well wouldn't a new doctor show up when: [sp]The silence would fall, when the question was asked on that weird planet they were talking about, you can't lie or something. While those aliens are gone(or are they :v:), mr blue head man did say that the question would still be asked no matter what. Doctor Who? I've been under the impression that was about an episode to come.[/sp]
If its a Moffat episode, then someone is going to die and many, many 14 year old girls will be scarred for ever
When did Doctor Who become insanely popular again? My tumblr dashboard is always full of Doctor Who, and throughout both high school and my first year of college I've had so many friends who are Doctor Who fans. So when did it really start to spark again?

A Neil Gaiman Cyberman episode... an episode with the Ice Warriors during the Cold War... some outer space episodes... and it all comes back next week!
Cringeworthy is an understatement my friend. [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] TNG should have never been desecrated in such a way.
Behold
IF we're doing the Doctor reunion thing, I sure as heck want to see Paul McGann get his onscreen limelight:
Speaking of crossovers Today my friend at school had the cringe worthy Star Trek TNG-Doctor Who crossover comics at Drama today
Oh, so public opinion's against the comic right now? I don't read comics, so all I know is Wiki summaries I've glanced at.

I think it's something to do with how they redesigned the show when Matt Smith became the new doctor and tried to make it appeal more to people in the U.S.
Well if they tried to make it appeal to more people in the US, they had mixed success. I really dislike the show now, but I loved it up until smith. Haven't even bothered to watch the latest season.
Tennant gets fucking scary near the end. [sp]When he realizes that HE makes the rules[/sp]
That lasted for about five minutes until hurrr it's a plipper and I have a silly hat Matt Smith really is a really good Doctor and I don't think it's fair how loads of people stopped watching it when he came in. He's no Ecclestone though.

I don't think anything can be better than seeing Amy and Rory go. As long as they don't bring River Sue back I'll probably be happy though.
since when was doctor who a hipster thing?
It isn't really but there are a lot of obnoxious people trying to be hipster (mostly girls) who sob over it all the time.
They've all been good, each in their own way...I can't wait to join their adventures again...
I have nothing against Matt Smith, he plays the Doctor well but at the same time I feel its about time to switch it up again soon. I will enjoy this season and the 50th anniversary with him, but I feel like if he stays for another season its just going to feel stale. I'm hoping the introduction of a new companion can help avoid that at the least in case he does stay for another season.

If David Tennant was too eccentric, Matt Smith is LOLSORANDOM Waypool. The gap is outrageous. Matt Smith is a good Doctor to be sure, but David Tennant knew how to almost perfectly blend the Doctor's eccentricity with his darker and more serious side.
I don't get it, why do so many people like this awful TV show?

Wells book "The Time" even through it was released later. Not really a fan of the story through.
I don't get it, why do so many people like this awful TV show?
Probably because the concept allows for incredibly creative plots by great writers (see: Neil Gaiman), and it's pulled off very well. The characters are varied and interesting, and it has the possibility of continuing for as long as our imaginations create new adventures.
Smith has some really good moments, he is a very good Doctor but he's been let down by bad writing, Tennent had that problem near the end as well.
Pretty much agree with this. I think Matt Smith has a lot of potential that has thus far been flat out wasted due to some pretty poor writing choices. The quality of Doctor Who really seems to have gone down since the early days of it.
I don't get it, why do so many people like this awful TV show?
Perhaps that is an indication that its not an awful show. I mean seriously the franchise has been around since 1963, and has been at it's prime for years. You don't have to like it but saying it's an awful show is incorrect.
