I'm surprised WA only has a C i mean my biology teacher had to make a big speech about "REMEMBER GUYS I AM NOT FORCING YOU TO BELIEVE EVOLUTION IS THE TRUTH I AM ONLY TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS OK GUYS PLEASE DON'T SUE FOR RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION OR NOTHING OK" but that alone wouldn't drag us all the way down to a C would it
Oh my...
As far as I can tell, the rest of all my science classes were pretty solid. Then again I went to public school during a time when education funding is pretty much nonexistent so I could be horribly horribly wrong
This is why allowing the state to decide and fund teaching is not working. Of course these grades will not get any better in the next decade, not with my state repealing Prop 204 which added a 1 cent tax on the dollar that went 80% to education and 20% to infrastructure. Bye bye $800 million.
Just remember, all of your high tech rockets and missiles come from a Grade D Alabama Arsenal. :v:
How the fuck does Kansas have a B
woot a-
As someone who currently resides in MA, this is exactly what I wake up to every morning.
http://www.edexcellence.net/publications/the-state-of-state-science-standards-2012.html They can go fuck themselves. They aren't testing shit. They have no control, they have no proper variables, they have no objective testing process, and ultimately absolutely no way to repeat the testing procedure. They look at the standards for each state and then spew a bunch of bullshit about how it doesn't match their requirements. This is shit science and is pathetic.
Wait what?
For fucks sake, Connecticut, I thought we were better than this!
Welp. I sort of figured that Arizona was going to be an F, but was mildly surprised to see it was in fact a D. How nice.
Ahaha in Alaska they only gave the Science HSGQEs as a test run and you didn't even need to pass it.
So that's why I scored so high in Science on my ACT :v:
I wonder how these compare to the dem/rep state maps. Also, those are really shitty colors for a chart. Why not go from green (A+) to red (F)?
Florida has a D, not suprising. We're shaped like one. HEYYOOOOOO
Oh boy my state has an F good job Oregon.
You know. I refuse to believe that Texas has a C, when they have fiction in their science doctrines.
The whole of Texas isn't this fucking clueless, certain area's like Austin and it's surrounding area's are actually way different then the real Texas, Austin doesn't even feel like if you're in Texas anymore
Not surprised my state has a D. My high school science classes were so abysmal that I doubt I learned a single thing aside from how not to teach a class.
Colorado has a D? All of my science classes have been great.
I live in texas, and i've never had a science teacher mention god. The attitude that the science department at my school gives out is "Evolution, its this, believe it or not, know it for the test. We're not talking about creationism, deal with it"
The problem with this is that they only look at the standards and not the rigor of their application. If my experience in high school in South Carolina is any indication, the disparity between our amazing science class standards and our abysmal school ratings has to do with the fact that nobody follows the damned things. My idiot freshman biology teacher flatly refused to teach evolution, my ancient decrepit chemistry teacher spent the entire year on the structure of the atom, and my AP Physics C teacher didn't teach period (I mean it, he handed us some calculus-free formulas and a website that automatically assigned homework, then he played cards or whatever. We had, like, one grade per quarter). If it weren't for IB Biology, that whole time would have been a waste. So, you know, take this with a grain of salt.
Both of my middle school science classes were taught by teachers that didn't usually teach that class (Football Coach and Math respectively) at a school that was simultaneously building a proper football stadium and 5 million dollar running track. I'm inclined to agree with the study.

It's a pretty big insult when you kids take a shit on texas when you don't even understand the geopolitical culture of the state, and don't understand how the state is larger than most western European countries.
Rock that science education, VA.
My state's science standard test is a joke. Easy as hell, only covers elementary level science and you don't have to pass.
Rock that science education, VA.
Mostly thanks North Virginia, no doubt.
Wait what?
The link is the source for the article in the OP. If you click on each state you can see a breakdown of why they gave it the score they did. All of them read like pretentious bullshit and none have any actual science associated with them.
California for science!
if washington is a C, A states must be teaching kindergartners advanced physics
How the fuck does Kansas have a B
Because wear smart
What the hell is up with the northwest?
