I have Witcher on Steam, is there any way I can get the product key to use it for this? Since I didn't buy it through GOG.
Yep, just key in the key Steam gives you when you launch the game on this page here.
I have Witcher on Steam, is there any way I can get the product key to use it for this? Since I didn't buy it through GOG.
i did a quick google search myself for this, click on the witcher tab, then in the links section on the right there should be a cd-key link.
My last preorder was Duke Nukem Forever, so go figure.

Which I was unaware of. But I got it all sorted out now!
I have Witcher on Steam, is there any way I can get the product key to use it for this? Since I didn't buy it through GOG.
It has this in a big box next to the different prices.
Bought The Witcher Games elsewhere? Simply redeem your free backup copy to add the games to the GOG.com account and get the better price for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt too!

He said pre-orders were on the decline not just with Activision games but across the industry, and suggested a number of reasons for the trend. Increased digital consumption is one factor, Hirshberg said, particularly on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Another is games being widely available the day they launch, so there's less need to pre-order to guarantee you get a copy. These two factors, coupled with a decline overall for demand on the last generation of consoles, means pre-orders are down across the board.
Interesting that they didn't mention another big factor: companies abusing pre-orders by only showing fake gameplay and graphics. but no that can't possibly be the problem we should blame digital downloads and wide availability
last things i preordered was Sonic Generations and CSGO
Stop pre-orders, early access, that shit. Start demos up again. Problem solved
Last game I preordered was csgo which I love to this day. In my opinion the best preorder yet.
CS:GO had that long, unrestricted beta so that doesn't really count.
I preorder Nintendo games that I plan on buying, that way they are shipped to my house the day of release. They never really drop in price much and the quality is good.
I'm glad people have decided to use some self control. Preorders are just so anticonsumer
The Witcher 3's preorder has a ton of goodies on CDProjektRed's Good Ol Games, and you can get a larger discount if you own any or all of the previous installments. http://www.gog.com/thewitcher3/en
Holy Moly Since the price in your region is almost $15.98 higher than in the US, we’re giving you $15.98 back (~€11.98) in bonus codes to get free classic games from GOG.com.
It is if there are no stores that sell games near you and you have to buy online. Yeah I could download but games these days are ridiculously huge.
downloading a digital copy of games at launch means you're downloading data from the same servers as thousands of other users. This is also a problem for disc holders when the game already has updates waiting for you, then you've got EVERYONE competing for bandwidth the only things I'll pre-order are major Nintendo titles like pokemon and SSB, because my friends and I love midnight releases, and it's great having a physical copy because they retain near retail value when selling back off. All things considered I'd rather get digital download for nintendo games since more of the money goes to them in their time of need, but I realized pretty fast after getting MK8 that it isn't exactly a sound plan in the long run.
The last game I preordered was Space Marine. And I have never really wanted to since. I'm quite happy about that.
I don't like that he failed to mention that a lot of pre-order games just aren't satisfactory, mostly because these days you don't know if a developer is fucking lying to you or not, so instead of throwing your money at them and hoping you can just wait it out and see if it's actually any good. Also, at least when it comes to pre-ordering any sort of game with online play or DRM or whatever, most of the time you'll be right in your wager that the servers are going to be very shaky or offline for even a week or two while they get their shit together. I remember in one case the youtuber Gopher pre-ordered and Assassin's Creed game, got it, set aside a whole bunch of time away from his family for it where they went away to do a thing and he stayed home and he was gonna play it and have fun and then bam, servers up and down for like 3 weeks, no connection, no game. Also just the lack of interesting games in general. AAA Developers have been pushing the exact same kind of game for so long that even the general public seems to be getting fed up with it; why spend 60 dollars on a new modern military shooter if the one you already have looks just as good and plays just as well?
Pokemon Diamond is about 40$ at gamestop, so you'd easily be able to still sell it for 25-30. It's been what, 5 years? Good god on Amazon it's 70 dollars. WHY
For some reason Nintendo games just never go down in price.
For some reason Nintendo games just never go down in price.
brand/franchise recognition. They consistently sell, so the high demand merits higher prices. Even the shoddy side-scrolling mario filler games from 5 years ago are sitting in the used racks at my locals GS for $45+
Preoders are basically fraudulence what ubisoft did was very much fraudulence as well, but of course, they NEVER are going to get sued, are they?
I'll probably only pre-order niche Japanese (fighting) games and games that are sure to be at least 8 out of 10s from now on. It seems that some AAA popular games have been declining in quality these days.
I am curious about what you guys think about preordering games that have already been released on other platforms, got good reviews and now being ported to the other platform (E.g GTA 5 to PC).

I pre-ordered Halo Reach and actually got it 2 days before release day somehow. Was loving it really.
Last game I pre ordered was Shadowrun Returns, albeit it was only the pre order tier that was a discount on the game. A discount is a bigger factor for pre ordering than "extras" to me. If people are going to pay the same price 6 months from when the game is released as they are when it is released, why should they bother? Especially in this age where pre order content is split between retailers and eventually sold combined for half the cost of the game itself.
I went to a midnight launch for BF3 and some dude brought his laptop with one of the Star Wars movies. The Gamestop we were at ordered a bunch pizzas and soda, the manager was a chill dude and paid for all of it.
I pre-ordered GTA V on the PS3 with my friend and we went to Gamestop and something like this happened. The dudes from the store bought a shit load of pizza, 7-UP and Coke and we had a party and got posters and shit. And I got one of the best games ever. I also got pulled over on the way home, but didn't get a ticket because everyone was in such a chill mood that night.
I have abstained from pre-purchase since BF4 violated my nether-regions, and trust.
It took you BF4? Why not BF3?

Everyone was there to pick up an Xbone. I was there to pick up A Link Between Worlds. Got a few good stares, which was hilarious. Before that I went to the Pokemon X/Y release. The Gamestop employees brought colored pencils and pokemon line art for us to color, which they hung up in the store for a few days. :v:
It took you BF4? Why not BF3?
BF3 was damn fun when it came out.
I stopped preordering after Rome II got me hyped to levels Ive never been before. Fuck, it was my dream game, A total war game set in the Roman era with actually fixed and intelligent AI? All the trailers were pure gold, I was sleepless the night before release. What I got was a souless, striped down, down right unplayable train wreck of a game that even the graphics bugged out and made the masterpiece shown in the trailers look like a unfinished piece of shit. The much anticipated improved AI was worse than Empire's. I then realized that the whole increased budget and then some went into marketing and creating hype with the actual game an after thought. Hell, I was so hyped that I overlooked the obvious tearing out of an working part of the game, 3 whole factions, to be sold as day 1 DLC. Needless to say, theres a great damn reason why I don't pre-order anymore.
Considering that there will almost never be a time where a game is sold out from pre-orders, unless it's something like Grand Theft Auto, there really isn't much point in pre-ordering physically unless you are interested in a map or poster or something. Digital pre-orders that aren't much cheaper than full price aren't worth it either, since you usually get nothing with them except for some in-game weapons or something.
