99 cents for a new album?
damn, that's cheap.
I'll probably pick it up later.
Her music is crap and too mainstream IMO
You a hipster, boy? You sure do sound like one.
Gaga said yesterday that she believed a digital version of 'Born This Way', wasn't worth more than the 99 cents Amazon were charging.
Stuck up whore.
she actually has talent though
The problem is that she's a big attention whore.
I applaud a company like Amazon, for equating the value of digital versus the physical copy, and giving the opportunity to everyone to buy music.
I love her. :3 I'm glad (but not surprised) that she's taking a logical stance, rather than going all Lars Ulrich on her fans.
Also ITT: baseless opinions from people who heard Poker Face on the radio one too many times and still know nothing about her
the music would be better if it wasn't all disco beats from 90's ibiza raves
I don't like her songs, but she's a pretty cool girl.
She doesn't treat her fans like shit, she makes smart statements, and she's respectable to everyone she meets.

It was one day only, and that one day was a week ago.
If you want it, it's $10.

Because no where in the music industry should an artist draw influence from another artist
derp

It's good to be influenced by it, but then there is too much of it. Please add more variety.

And yet another case of someone who didn't hear her pre-Gaga pianist-songwriter works--or anything but her radio singles for that matter, lolol.
But that's ok. I expect most people to be completely closed-minded because it's mainstream (oh the horror of it all).

no it's just out of date
it's just 90's house beats

how can you even remotely claim people aren't into "mainstream" stuff because they are close-minded
that's not what close-minded means

Once again
Basing this off of radio singles and nothing else.
So about 1/10th of her music, probably less.

i have her albums
all i've heard is 90's house beats, please point out the left-field sound collages because they must have not come with my version of the album

It's not the fact that it's mainstream. If I could hear it getting overplayed on the radio, and if I think that it's "meh". Why would I be interested in it at all?

On solely her Lady Gaga pseudonym albums, Speechless, Americano, Teeth, Bloody Mary, and a few more I can't name off the top of my head.
And then there's all of her pre-Gaga music, which is astounding because she's a brilliant pianist and songwriter.

Educate yo'self, fool.

Your problem is
Listening to the radio.
I'm sorry to hear that.

so my criticism is that she doesn't push the boundary enough as a pop artist
and your reply to that is "naw dude check out these ballroom piano songs"
okay i'm gonna end this right now
this is some new shit:

and that's from 2007 so it's already like 100 years old
Um, it's actually the fact that I think her songs are "meh". Apparently, it's not a legitimate excuse?
criticize for not liking something because it's mainstream -> criticize for listening to the radio too much

Ballroom piano? Lol. And given the fact that you certainly didn't watch all of what I posted, I won't bother with yours (I assume it's Bjork anyway).
And no, my response is that she's evolving as a pop artist according to her own vision of the music she wants to make, irregardless of the status quo.
Oh and I loved the part where you disregarded the rest of my examples. But oh well.
Um, it's actually the fact that I think her songs are "meh". Apparently, it's not a legitimate excuse?
Not when it's because you listen to pop radio. I mean, really. :|

i hate that song
I don't listen to it all the time though, considering how most songs on the radio are overplayed. I mostly listen to a large variety of genres in my mp3. Including songs that used to be mainstream.
i hate that song
Oh wow, the example was MIA.
Speaking of stealing beats!
She took a beat from a song about orphaned children from WW2 ... and turned it into a song about selling drugs.
Just sayin', all she did was sing over it
And somehow that's better than a woman who composes all of her own music from start to finish. huehuehue
[editline]4th June 2011[/editline]
Here, I'll even give you the original beat, because I'm nice like that

People don't necessarily care on how you make a song, they care on how good it sounds.
People don't necessarily care on how you make a song, they care on how good it sounds.
Except that's pretty much what dude was saying
She's using old beats from the 90s? lol, maybe they sound similar
MIA is using the exact beat from a song from the 70s. I am not addressing you, by the way. You've made the least compelling arguments in the entire thread.
uh no the beat isn't stolen at all because there's a new beat in MIA's song
all i'm saying is that's the new shit, that took the pop music game forward
but just having superwave in the background with 909 beats isn't gonna really push pop music forward
and don't even talk shit about bjork okay, that's taken pop to the extreme left and it wouldn't be fair for me to compare gaga to her that's not even on the same level
i mean disco beats vs 1997 album made of volcano noises and chirps there's no comparison
plus mark bell of LFO fame worked on homogenic so hah fuck that
i wasn't pulling the bjork card just to be nice

Yes... the beat is stolen. Directly copied and pasted into the song. Yeah, there's a new set of bass chords over it, but it is literally the exact same melody that Joe Strummer wrote. MIA didn't revolutionize anything in pop music. I guarantee the only music most people have heard of hers is Paper Planes. Maybe $10, maybe.
And no, Bjork isn't even in the pop genre. Hence why I wasn't interested in doing the comparison. But since it was MIA...
Stuck up whore.
Wait.. what?
Wait.. what?
She's intelligent enough to know that there's a massive difference in physical copies and digital copies.
Therefore, a stuck up whore. Why can't they all be as down to earth as Jessica Simpson?
