I am a wisconsinite. ED from MSNBC is here live, it's cool to watch. Anyway, repubs suck cock.
Looks like they're pretty much fucked. Big spending corporations win again, what a surprise.
Surely you mean the will of the people wins again, since corporations cannot vote.
corporations cannot vote.
Ha
Surely you mean the will of the people wins again, since corporations cannot vote.
Yet they're allowed to spend unlimited amounts of money influencing elections, while actual people are limited to $2,500. You're telling me one vote is going to do more to determine the outcome of an election than Exxon's $30 billion in free-and-clear profit last year?
Surely you mean the will of the people wins again, since corporations cannot vote.
Maybe not, but they sure as fuck can affect the vote in a serious way. Well then perhaps people should get a goddamned brain and actually research their candidates instead of just listening to 2 second audio clips on TV commercials. People get the government they deserve. If they can't be bothered to find out what they are getting themselves into, then I wish them luck.
The problem is the only way you can run for office now days is to get some corporate backing and eventually they will want to be paid back in some way
Politicians are great at lying and not paying off their debts. Why should it be different here?
Politicians are great at lying and not paying off their debts. Why should it be different here?
Because lying is bad? What are you a fucking 5 year old?
Because lying is bad? What are you a fucking 5 year old?
And when has something being bad ever stopped a person in a position of power from doing that, if they have something to gain. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS! Don't continue to reward them by re-electing them if they've wronged you, because you feel they're less bad than the other guy.
Here's District 8's winner (GOP), making her victory speech: “This is a victory for the taxpayers of Wisconsin. They sent a strong message to the special interests – Wisconsin is not for sale. 'The special interest groups tried to recall me for doing my job. I didn’t run away, I stayed and fought for the taxpayers. And we won. We balanced the state budget without raising taxes – without giving in to the special interests. For the first time in more than a decade, Wisconsin will have a surplus." In 2010, voters sent a strong message that they are tired of massive deficits, massive tax hikes taxes and job loss. They are sending the same message loud and clear tonight. The days of kicking the can down the road are over in our state. The voters have spoken once and for all. I’m also proud of my fellow Senators who bravely fought and kept the majority for the taxpayers. We will continue to fight to continue to protect the reforms we passed this session. Wisconsin is open for business and tonight’s victory proves it.” [editline]9th August 2011[/editline] Oh yeah by the way this speech is horseshit.

Every FP user Republicans suck.....
I wish the government paid for my retirement plan.

I say fuck old timers, we're the generation inheriting the Earth, they're just clinging to their old paradigm of how things "ought" to be. When it's time we have GOT to come up with a way to get honest people in power without needing to be stinkin rich to get anything done.
I wish the government paid for my retirement plan.
I guess thats a benefit of...working for them? Most private companys do the same...unless they're Republicans...or greedy....but I repeat myself Meaning whoever you work for usually supplies the retirement...you work for the government the government does it you work for a private company and they do it (or should)
Most private companys do the same...unless they're Republicans...or greedy....but I repeat myself
Yeah, right. Corporate retirement plans are a myth for anyone that doesn't have "executive" in their title. In the real world they throw you out on your ass with nothing when the day comes that you cost too much and can't keep up with the young people anymore.
Yeah, right. Corporate retirement plans are a myth for anyone that doesn't have "executive" in their title. Also an interesting note is that these district elections were relatively close, and now the state Senate is a close 17-16 (R). The state is incredibly divided, and it's a microcosm of our entire country really. No matter what state you're in, be it a Democrat or Republican controlled, it's always by a slim margin (of course some more than others). The past 10 years or so we've seen a huge schism in our nation in not only politics, but ideology and values. I just wonder what it means for our future.

But now people want everything cheap cheap cheap like they can get from China at WalMart, so the company has to cut costs somewhere to meet the public's expectations. I'd rather have to sock away a few dollars every paycheck for 40 years rather than have to work with idiots and dangerous people who can't get fired because they're union. There might be another recount. Alleged election tampering again in waukesha.
There might be another recount. Alleged election tampering again in waukesha.
No surprise really...makes me embarrassed to live in the stupid county http://www.wisn.com/video/28819067/detail.html
Hopefully the rise of a 3rd party with more centrist ideals that can relate to people who have allied themselves with both the normal parties.
Both parties screw the people over. Republicans push control over to corporations and Democrats force control with the government. The bourgeoisie benefit, while the common man gets nothing. So I agree, Hopefully there will be a 3rd party understand the people.
