I could see it getting some improvements considering Capcom's trend of adding cool shit(The united Mercenaries mode in RE5, the new playable characters in DMC4, etc) to rereleases.
Dead Rising 1 makes sense to come to PC; they're probably seen how well something like the Resident Evil Remake port has sold and I think Dead Rising fans are just waiting to rebuy the first game. I bet they'll touch up the visuals makes sure it runs at a solid frame rate, that's enough to revisit a classic game.
Is this going to be a straight-up port of the original 360 version or will they do some improvements? I'd certainly like to see the survivor AI improved and less obnoxious loading screens.
Hopefully optimization will cut down on the loading screens. As for survivor AI, I don't know WHAT they could do about that, then again I just set a destination marker 99.9% of the time. I had a habit of carrying around several UZIs and shotguns to arm my survivors with so I really didn't care if they went charging into a horde of zombies.
Survivors were legit the worst part of DR1
They were idiots but if they were easy to escort it wouldn't be anymore fun. The door icon though would be nice.

It wasn't fun trying to do it when they just got stuck like idiots
It wasn't fun trying to do it when they just got stuck like idiots
Or when you're trying to enter the security room and the survivors run into eachother if they're trying to climb that one ledge all at once.
It's gonna be fun unlocking all the stuff again. IIRC I had unlocked the Real Mega Buster, and was working on 7 Day Survivor, which ended when my Xbox had red ringed. Honestly the most fun was just mowing down tens of thousands of zombies in the tunnels for the Mega Buster. I spent probably 2 days straight working on it.
Also to those who are new to DR, get Off The Record, it's the best one by far imo. Excellent PC port, it is.
It wasn't fun trying to do it when they just got stuck like idiots
No, it was definitely fun. I got the Saint achievement twice and it is definitely fun, this I can confirm.
[editline]19th July 2016[/editline]
Nah, I understand the frustration (obv, having done that achievement twice) but its all part of what makes Dead Rising different and more interesting than the sequels imo. I wouldn't change a thing except load-times, UI rescaling (although it was a 1080 game so that's fine) and maybe just have the unlockable modes already available in this port.
I hope they don't add anything like that, DR1 is not a co-op game. It's a game for struggling, barely saving anybody and for breaking and running around late to everything.
So then don't play coop and don't worry about everyone else's personal experience.

I think you're just a masochist.

I don't want escorts to be easy, I just want their AI to be semi-competent.
Mod potential would be amazing

Yeah, right there with ya and I also want them to add a go-kart track around the mall and it would be cool if we can play in first-person. Just my personal wishes, don't judge.
Please come to PC.
Please come to Germany.
I'm pretty sure the games have a decent chance of not getting outlawed at this point, but iirc the publisher stopped trying after the first two.
I think it's just me, but Dead Rising 1 on Xbox 360 was a very cozy, comfy experience.

I could argue it was the most stressful of all of the games. It had the most strict time limits and had the clunkiest of controls. It was still great. But if you didn't want to lose, you had very short breaks.
Seriously. Can anyone explain this song to me. The lyrics make no sense lmao. This has been a mystery to me for years
rockerman goes into the woods to get enlightened and gets his food stolen by squirrels
I just hope it has better controls and the improved AI from 2 instead of a straight port. I loved DR1 but after playing DR2 I feel I'd just go insane with the fountain.

Just cause it isn't in your taste that DR1 doesn't have co-op doesn't mean that the devs should add it either.
[editline]19th July 2016[/editline]
Either way I'm stoked to be getting DR1 on all these platforms!!!! Co-op or not!
i don't even care of the survivor ai still sucks. there is no requirement to save anyone to complete the full story at all. if you hate it that much just don't do it and then do the rest of the game which is amazing?
Just cause it isn't in your taste that DR1 doesn't have co-op doesn't mean that the devs should add it either.
I literally just said I'd be excited if they did add it :v:
I'm just not personally thrilled by the idea of ports that fundamentally change a game. Like, if you enjoyed DR1 you'll still like it here and if you didn't then you still won't. I'm fond of the struggle, and I know others are too so I think it would be best to keep the challenge of the escort because it is so optional and only people already seeking a challenge and a reward would be affected by a change like you're suggesting.
Capcom added the Analogue movement options to the PC REmake, but AI improvements/changes don't seem like an menu option.
If it's a remake rather than a straight port, they should improve things that were commonly seen as issues in the original version.
Just because saving people was highly optional doesn't mean the shitty follow AI should be left in.
You can always boot up the 360 version if you're gonna be a weird purist about it.

For me it just adds to the challenge. DR2 was too easy because Survivors would just mash everything if you gave them the right weapon.
Also people asking for coop don't seem to realize it would kill the difficulty balance.

If it's a remake, but why would this be a remake? I don't know where this weird idealism is coming from, it's more than likely just a port like the Dragon's Dogma and the REmake and REZero ports.
[editline]20th July 2016[/editline]
Like, go play another game if you don't like this game - simple as that. It's okay for games to not be perfect and for you to not like them entirely, but your arm-chair game dev suggestions just seem as goofy as kids hoping they add every single in demand feature to any game ever. I don't want to play DR2, I want to play DR1 on the PC. You have three games that I think are worse if you wanna go co-op around and prefer their ease to the original.

this weird idealism is coming from the possibility it will be a remake or an enhanced port
Go play the original game if you're going to be a purist and demand the devs change absolutely nothing from the comfort of your armchair - simple as that. It's not like I'm emailing Capcom with my ideas, I'm literally just saying "hey that'd be cool if they did".
I like the original game, I would also like if they improved some small faults in it. I think an optional co-op mode would be fun. I am not demanding either, and an optional co-op mode does not affect your experience of the single player game. Why does it matter to you if I would enjoy a co-op mode? I've played the original game several times already.
Why is "improve the shitty AI slightly" such an offensive suggestion to you? You're just being fucking silly at this point. Just because I think a small thing that is overwhelmingly seen as a fault in the game should be improved doesn't mean I want to go play DR2 instead. Again, if you're such a purist, go play the original 360 version. Next thing I know you're gonna be demanding that the resolution and the framerate stay the exact same as they were in the original too.
[editline].[/editline]
Also again, co-op doesn't affect the vanilla singleplayer mode, and having the AI not get stuck at doors and shit is a pretty slight but favorable change.
I wouldn't say I'm a purist if I just don't want them to go in and change how the game plays. If you want co-op and better AI go play one of the sequel because those aren't slight changes that will just slide-in along side the vanilla game. There is a possibility that they'll remake or enhance it for some reason, but Capcom hasn't done that yet with any of their PC ports so I believe your wishes are personally misguided and unlikely.
We're arguing taste here, bud. Let's just drop it because you're not gonna convince me of anything and this is getting into paragraph-lengths.

That's a goofy-ass response. "Don't like it, don't play it"? We DO like this game, we just want to see some improvements. For all that bull about rescuing survivors being optional, it's still one of the main ways of gaining XP and leveling up, which in turn is necessary for beating the main story (because you're going to need the extra health, inventory, and skills to make it through the endgame). Keeping in the utterly retarded AI for "the challenge" is a weak excuse to keep a broken mechanic in an updated rerelease.
