That's a goofy-ass response. "Don't like it, don't play it"? We DO like this game, we just want to see some improvements. For all that bull about rescuing survivors being optional, it's still one of the main ways of gaining XP and leveling up, which in turn is necessary for beating the main story (because you're going to need the extra health, inventory, and skills to make it through the endgame). Keeping in the utterly retarded AI for "the challenge" is a weak excuse to keep a broken mechanic in an updated rerelease.
It's entirely possible to beat the story with what leveling is done via the story missions. At most you want a few melee skills for the last boss.
Unless they decided to be stupid and add a permanent survivor follower who's meant to be a coop partner like Resident Evil 5 did I don't see how it's a problem, just don't play the coop then? I'm not even arguing for coop but the people arguing against it seem to be under the impression that they'd be forced to do it. None of the Dead Rising games with coop forced it and this wouldn't be the exception if they added it. Edit: I myself am kinda hoping they add an option where you can have Otis call you without making you unable to fight. Just a menu option, not something forced.
Hmmm that would be nice. I just don't want the difficulty of escorting 8 people at once to be removed because they can now navigate compotently and don't stand in place sobbing. There are the easy to get Survivors, but then there are ones that are a huge stressful pain in the ass that are rewarding yo cash in. But an ear-piece like in OTR would be choice IF they chose to add some sweatener to this port. [editline]20th July 2016[/editline] I don't want casual babs to ruin the fun of this game. I just get those kinds of vibes from Evilcop's immediate request for easy additions and his big wishes.
Hey, Nintendo did it with the 3DS ports of Zelda... But you're being pedantic and inaccurate in comparing game-breaking bugs to annoying AI. [editline]20th July 2016[/editline] What's with all you cops trying to spin my words. I just want a port of the OG game which isn't that crazy. You ask for enhanced ports and sometimes you get things like the Zelda 3DS ports, or you get Chop Till You Drop....
Ports should be ports and not versions imo. It's about literal access to the game primarily, but then it's about aesthetic changes with redone UI for older games and sound (FFX HD) and catching up to general visual standards with resolutions and maybe menu navigation but I feel unless it's a remake then keep the game as broken or mechanically obtuse as it always has been. Let DR4 or other iterations try new things instead of trying new things with the old ones.
How is Dead Rising 1 inaccessible The Xbox 360 is cheap and easy as fuck to get, and it has HDMI and all the amenities of a modern system still. If the port is bad you can just as easily play the original. I'm not asking for "casualization" I'm asking for simple fixes to obvious issues with the game. Having AI that's too stupid to walk is artificial difficulty. It's not fun or actually challenging, it's just frustrating when you have to spam "HEY FOLLOW ME" a million times for them to listen to you. Having Otis disable your ability to fight when he calls and then the game punishing you for not taking his calls is a broken mechanic. If they're going to enhance the port in any way, it should be fixed. Why should they keep broken game mechanics when you can just as easily play original if you're that thick-headed? Co-op is literally just for funsies and I really, truly don't understand why you're so fixated on it. If they include co-op and you don't like it, just don't play co-op. "Simple as that", right?

It's kind of a huge waste to not do it if you have the opportunity to do so.

Few companies "work" on these ports, they're quick money makers and this has been apparent since the God of War HD collection.
i have no desire to go back and buy a 360 again (after my last one died on me) just to play 1 game. these ports are great and necessary.

The PS4 ports for RE6 and RE5 added the No Mercy mode from the PC version, and the port of RE5 added an option where you don't have to do the quicktime events while also fixing the weird issue where both Mercenaries modes were divided(into Reunion and default Mercenaries, which kept you from having matchups like Wesker and Barry). The PS4 port for DmC Devil May Cry added turbo mode, an option to disable the time limit in bloody palace(while giving Vergil his own bloody palace), and brought it up to 60 fps while adding a game mode that makes the combat feel more like the originals while also adding an optional active lockon system(something many people complained about DmC lacking). The port of DMC4 did a similar thing, while also adding three new characters with unique movesets and new costumes. Capcom is not a "straight port" company, they improve games they port to the next gen. They're not going to ignore problems people had with the game just because some people want a straight port, but they're also not going to ruin the game by adding bad changes or cutting anything either.

I'd much rather play it on PC over my 360 any day. So i'll happy take any of these 'ports' or 'remasters'

Dead Rising 2 for PS4 has been rated in Australia. This usually means the game is close to release, in a couple months. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets released in September for the 10th Anniversary.
Oh hell yeah, first a remake of Resident Evil 2, now this. Looks like Capcom's started heading in the right direction again. Dead Rising was one of my favourite childhood games and I've got a ton of good memories from playing it.
How is Dead Rising 1 inaccessible The Xbox 360 is cheap and easy as fuck to get, and it has HDMI and all the amenities of a modern system still. Obviously it's cheaper/easier money for companies to work on HD remasters for consoles but honestly, I personally don't mind the remasters so long as they're good quality and not riddled with bugs (Hello, Silent Hill Collection!) and have a price that reflects the fact it's a remaster rather than a full-on game. Any bonus content is neat, as well. That said it's pretty funny that the new generation of consoles is largely kept afloat with remasters but that's another story. I have a feeling they'll include a few anti-frustration improvements like fixing Otis' calls, faster load timesm adding extra save slots and hopefully improving the AI a little, I still remember survivors lagging behind so far that the game spawned more zombies on them, forcing me to rescue their sorry asses. Also, given the circumstances, it'd be nice if they could take advantage of the improved hardware of the new platforms to add a few extra zombies on-screen, but that's probably unlikely. I've honestly got my doubts that they'll go to the effort to add a co-op gamemode to a ten year old game, even a remaster, but power to them if they do. It'll be fun.

I remember when I got all the achievements in DR1. That is still my crowning achievement, fuck everything else, that shit was hard. 7 Day Survivor was the biggest pain in the ass I've ever dealt with.
7 day survivor is probably one of the toughest achievements ever.
Eh, I disagree. 7 Day Survivor is more of a waiting game, and you're pretty much ensured to nab it if you weren't going for it with a launch-day 360. I got it twice on two different accounts. The real pain in the ass were the achievements where you had to save 50 survivors, and the one where you had to answer ALL of Otis' calls.
https://store.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox-One/Games/Dead-Rising/39d9d0c8-3ed8-420b-a928-ec2d97bc871b Considering this says 'bundle only', it seems likely they're all coming out together in a collection.
What does that mean for the PC release, then? Steam's already got DR2 and OTR and they subtract the price of games you already own from bundles now and would likely drive people to sites like G2A if they had no interest in DR2 or OTR but had to buy those to get DR1 (sorta like how CoD4 Remastered is bundled with Infinite Warfare and I have no interest in the latter and I intend to buy a CD key of the former off of someone). Alternatively, they could use this to push the Windows Store (since I mean, the series has always been one close to Microsoft) by sticking with the bundle, but releasing it there so you have to buy all of the games, but that would mean a re-release of Dead Rising 2 because the Steam and retail (but not GFWL marketplace) releases use Steam for coop, multiplayer, achievements, DLC, and all the other web-interactive shit, and I highly doubt Microsoft would want to remind anyone that GFWL exists, especially since they're trying to at least attempt PC gaming again. This one probably isn't likely though because I don't think Capcom'd bother with UWP considering this is an early 360 game and not one built with UWP and DX12 and Win10 in mind. I dunno, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they announce/do. I think best case scenario that we might get would be non-bundled and on both Windows Store and Steam. Anything else'll cause bits of the PC community (the people who don't want to upgrade to Win10, the people who don't want to use anything other than Steam, the people who don't want to get all three games and just want DR1, etc.) to have another reason to shit on this. I mean the actual best would be multi-platform, non-bundled, and available on GOG or something but that's just totally unrealistic and this way Microsoft would get some good sales and keep the game exclusive to a Microsoft-developed OS as far as PC goes, and Capcom would get sales en masse. Though I guess this all assumes that there were negotiations between Capcom and Microsoft and not something like Capcom's exclusivity contracts ending and them going "alright let's get this shit on other platforms because people would eat it up and throw money at us." I could be totally wrong but these are just my thoughts on all of this.
It's probably just that specific store page, seems odd to only bundle the games together.
It's probably just that specific store page, seems odd to only bundle the games together.
Yeah, I don't know. I guess I get overly paranoid when it comes to anything that involves both Microsoft-exclusive franchises and PC. They don't exactly have a grand track record.
I don't know if Dead Rising really is a Microsoft exclusive, it just never seemed to leave that console. They did port the game to the Wii, so I don't think it's like MS owns any portion of that original game, all they did was publish it after 2013 so I don't think they have much say in this. That and looking at how Capcom handles all of their PC games, I'm sure it'll be on steam with no Windows store stuff and probably on its own.

Rated R18+ unlike the original one where it was MA15+ Also says it is modified, not sure if it means modified due to the rating being changed, modified to remove stuff ingame, modified to add stuff ingame, or some other reason. Dead Rising 2 has the same rating as the original, MA15+ Doesn't say it is modified. Also unlike Dead Rising 2's re-rating for the re-release, saying Playstation 4, Dead Rising 2 Off the Record says Multiplatform.
