It's like another Onion article...except it's not.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nottheonion/
Yeah... It can't be that hard, right? Except the same thing would've happened if someone else was in charge, the only difference would've been that the aftonbladet editorial would've been written by someone from the green party, writing about how it's impossible to fund transport infrastructure with these low low taxes. And honestly, had this article not had the "feminist progressives ruins the day again" headline, would anyone outside of sweden really give a shit about it? I mean, I'm swedish and I barely care.
People prefer their leaders to have at least some semblance of sanity even in their wrong decisions. If you lower taxes and dont have money for roads, that makes sense at least, bad call, dont do it again. Raising the budget then messing with low level snow clearing strategy only to make it worse to make use of your wasted gender studies major strikes the public as insane for good reason. It makes sense to want to hold politicians to at least trying to appear sane, right?
I was hoping this was a joke article when I first saw it appear around a week ago. Please tell me this is a joke.
This exact same story was posted like a week ago by some blogger and made up to be fake, so this is really weird to hear about now.
This is why the right is on the rise
To translate: "Because I'm a woman, I should be considered before public transportation and the ground I step on should be squeaky clean FIRST." That's not equality. That's sense of supreme entitlement to special treatment.

The whole thing stems down to a stupid decision that to them likely sounded good on paper, done by people that are most likely reasonable in real life, combined with a really bad snow storm that hit just in time to make their political opponents cum in their pants thinking about the "told you so"-editorials they could write. The guy responsible even apologized, I would like think they've realized this did not work out as planned. I could be wrong, of course.

Late Stage leftism. Looks terminal.
Men also use sidewalks and women also use cars and both are free to make that choice so trying to achieve "equality" this way seems completely superfluous.
Who the fuck ascribes gender to pavement and roadways. That's the real problem here, not feminism.
Who the fuck ascribes gender to pavement and roadways. That's the real problem here, not feminism.
Those feminists do. So technically feminists are the problem again.
Those feminists do. So technically feminists are the problem again.
Being a fucking idiot is the real problem.
Yes thats what he said
Nah man feminism is cool and good.
Being a fucking idiot is the real problem.
Yes thats what he said
Being a fucking idiot is the real problem.
I just can't believe the administration got behind this assertion. It's mind boggling for me.
Those feminists do. So technically feminists are the problem again.
i assure you "gender-equal snow removal" is not on the priority list of any feminist outside of like the 3 goofs that thought this up
Wow you mean clearing the non critical sidewalks before or during the clearing of the roads which are critical infrastructure didn't work and in fact created a giant mess and delays throughout the town fucking shocker :smug:
This is what you get with a government that has also vowed to feminize the army and literally have cops ice skating and shit with criminal gangs. My sister got stuck in traffic for close to 10 hours on a road that rarely takes half an hour to ride in normal conditions because of this, as well.
brb hiding in a bunker, tell me when things stop being retarded
and literally have cops ice skating and shit with criminal gangs.
Source? Last time I checked they partaked in activities with youth living in bad neighborhoods to build relationships and help them from becoming a part of said criminal gangs Also what do you mean with "feminizing" the army?
What the fuck are my northern neighbors doing?
Us Estonians have a really great blend of Russian and Estonian mentality that won't allow stupid fuckshit like this.
Well special treatment is pretty much what modern feminism is all about
I'm not really keen on this term because it lumps in all of the actually sane feminists with the crazies, and suggests that they all share the same radical goals. However the last decade's upsurge in radical "SJW" agendas (usually spreading online) does mark a deviation from third-wave feminism, so some people call it fourth-wave feminism. Sounds fair enough.

No idea where you've read about the cops and criminal gangs, and I don't even know what feminizing the army is supposed to mean. Do you honestly believe that the situation would've ended well if other political parties were in power? Because in reality stockholm unexpectedly gets hit by snow every year, and it always ends in chaos. 2006: http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/snokaos-i-stockholm/ 2007: http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article11863144.ab 2011: http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/snokaos-i-stora-delar-av-landet/ 2012: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=83&artikel=5370611 several examples: http://www.dn.se/sthlm/snokaos-vi-minns/ You can disagree with the left all you want on other matters but situations like these are incredibly hard to avoid. All of the examples I cited above were during times that the blue parties were in power. Same thing happened.
Safe roads are worth the sidewalks being left a little snowy. Hopefully this initiative was a learning experience for the municipal council, because it didn't help otherwise.
The gender-equal part is fucking stupid but that didn't really factor into them fucking up the snow clearing. They got around 30-40 cm of snow in something like 3 days, and keep in mind that the streets of stockholm are pretty much always filled with parked cars and you begin to realise how large an undertaking snow clearing can be in big cities.
Those feminists do. So technically feminists are the problem again.
No the problem isn't feminists. The problem is those "feminists" Who the hell prioritises deicing pavements over deicing roads; that's not feminism, that's stupidity.
Sweden's gone off the fucking rails
No the problem isn't feminists. The problem is those "feminists" Who the hell prioritises deicing pavements over deicing roads; that's not feminism, that's stupidity.
I really don't even get how the idea survived in their brains and made it to policy. Prioritizing sidewalks and bike lanes at first doesn't sound... all bad I guess. Healthier population because walking/biking > plopping your ass in a car seat, it will lead to less pollution, and for those that really do need to use the road, it'll be clearer of cars. But that immediately falls apart when you realize OH SHIT VERY CRUCIAL STUFF HAPPENS ON ROADS. If you can't commute to work because your sidewalk is iced, you call in. If you can't commute your ambulance to somebodies house because the road is iced, that's a really bad situation. I don't even think the policy would be to blame for this problem right now, because holy hell, a 111 year record for stockholm must be insane, but it's still not a very sound policy. On the feminist theory side it's shit too, I'll take their word that women are using the sidewalk more, but rather than just forcing the first resolution that comes to mind the much more interesting and useful thing to do would be to try to discover why. I've got a couple ideas but yeah.
its like these feminists are stuck in some strange warped reality. Almost every major supporter of Equal rights for pretty much every group that existed wanted the opposing side to have equal rights as well. Not this bizarro world bullshit. I feel like "Bizarro world" is going to become a much used term in 2017.
