how can you own like 30 billion vintage computers and computer accessories but not be able to buy like 200 dollars worth of parts and shit, or a <100 dollar OS upgrade for your actual computer you use for actual work that you're on right now?
well shit I dunno it's just a hobby have you thought about that for a second I mean well the odds of that are really slim but hell it's just like a possibility or something
man screw your mentality, just let the guy enjoy his windows xp machines in a bakelite case if he wants, in what way does it harm you
Isn't it possible for the community to create updates for Win XP? So now that Microsoft is not supporting it anymore maybe some people from different places will work on it or is this impossible?

Yeah why not, it's not like there's an alternative: newer and way better OS

Why do people hate Clippy again? Back in the day, most of my fun with a computer was playing around in PowerPoint/Paint and playing through different animations of helpers in Word. That robot was the best, he had the funniest animations.
My brother still uses XP and knowing how he treats his computers I'm surprised it isn't some sort of weird botnet by now. :v:
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
Also posting from XP in VirtualBox because some of the older games I have struggle to run on windows 7.
And my family still use XP on their laptop.
XP is and probably will forever be my favorite OS
But I've found 7 to be rather comfy now that I got it all setup how I like it
Yeah why not, it's not like there's an alternative: newer and way better OS
Is there one made by microsoft?
give me $800.
At best a decent computer running 7/8 will set you back by at least $350 or more
"Mom, what's gonna happen to Windows XP?"
"He'll go upstate to a farm, where he can be with all the other Windows XP's, Billy."
:'(
Gotta love that subliminal messaging with all the eights, too.
theres a lot of arcade games that use xp as a base os, cant wait for people to be playing and get a popup :v:

I don't think those are updated.
It's already about as fun as you can get.
I use 98 on my dedicated MAME machine (housed in an actual arcade unit).
Been meaning to fix up the connection to the buttons/joysticks though.
they will when they're all buttfucked by malware
Good luck, I'm behind Windows Defender!
I don't know why it bothers you guys that people still use XP so much. I'll upgrade some day but I'm quite comfortable since I appear to be the only person on the planet that's never had any issues with it. To each their own, I guess.
same here for me except it's 7 -> 8
Windows 7 is still fully supported, though

Same reason it bugs me when I see people using magnetic strip after having discovered contactless payment.
XP was good. In 2003. It is unusable 10 years later. I was forced to use it at work until last month. It's like going from 98 to 3.1.
Who still uses Windows XP? By this time most people ahve moved to Windows 7 or 8 at least.
I just moved from XP to 7. I'm glad I did it, since now I can use my hardware to the max.
Gonna make using XP in a virtual machine all the more fun for us malware enthusiasts!
oh sweet i didnt think of that
awesome

You do realize XP is 4 times, if not more, unstable and insecure than 7 and 8.1 right? And that due to no longer being updated and simply being insanely out of date it puts you at risk?
are you seriously this naive? holy shit dude, you are just begging to get hacked
not only that but the massive performance decrease you put yourself through just to keep your shitty OS. The massive number of programs you're missing out on that could be good to use. It's slower, easier to break, outdated, insecure, and doesn't support anything nearly as well as newer OS systems.
But hey if you get some fucked up virus that fries all your information and you get all your accounts stolen don't cry, it's an 11 year old OS, get with the times.
seriously, please change it, even if you don't get a massive virus, you're still missing out on a lot
Woo using XP in my computer class as the primary OS with Windows 7 as the secondary since the computers can't handle it, we are learning for the A+ that uses Windows 7 as the primary knowledge needed with XP as a secondary knowledge needed.
All while the teacher buys himself a new motherboard and an i7 to go with it. Hell after you do punch downs you have to go to the back and cut the remaining wires off with scissors since the Punch Down Tools are so dull.
I keep my XP laptop to play Chip's Challenge :v:
I just dug around for some nostalgia and found this on the wiki-
Sommerville created a sequel, Chip's Challenge 2 (CC2) which included new elements and levels in addition to the original ones. However, the game has never been released to the public, as Sommerville and the copyright holder of the game could not agree on terms due to the copyright holder wanting $100,000+ upfront.[4]
copyright trolling killing games since forever
but it continues-
Sommerville's company Niffler developed two other follow-ups to the game: Chuck's Challenge (2012) which is available for iOS systems,[6] and Chuck's Challenge 3D (2014) which is available for Window, Mac, and Linux on Steam;[7] and for Android on Google Play.[8][9] Chuck's Challenge 3D was a launch title for the NVIDIA Shield.[10]

I don't know why it bothers you guys that people still use XP so much.
Because it's like sticking with Windows 2.1 (released 1988 - 13 years before XP) while everyone else uses XP (released 2001 - 13 years before Win8.1).
cue mass plague of malware inflicted on hospital and school systems after april 8th
I don't see why everybody cares what OS another person uses, if they want to get left behind, let them.

Because the people who want to stick with XP are naĩve, and we're trying to help them? Of course we could let everyone learn the hard way and lose important files
