How do you think the upper class feels?
I don't know. I think they're enjoying being rich too much to notice.
Yeah, the middle class is the one that's suffering. Everyone else is cosy
define suffering i had to cut back on my food spending but by no means am i high class nor am i suffering
Yeah, the middle class is the one that's suffering. Everyone else is cosy
By definition the lower class is suffering more than anyone else.
define suffering i had to cut back on my food spending but by no means am i high class nor am i suffering
It was a figure of speech. He's saying the middle class is suffering the most from tax increases. [editline]07:55PM[/editline]
By definition the lower class is suffering more than anyone else.
There you go. We pay taxes so everyone can enjoy a similar quality of life.
It was a figure of speech. He's saying the middle class is suffering the most from tax increases.
No, I'm saying that, by definition neither the upper or middles classes are suffering considerably, certainly not in the US
I don't know. I think they're enjoying being rich too much to notice.
Oh you.
I'm not going to pretend to know whether higher or lower taxes is good for the economy right now, but I do know that we need to raise taxes and lower spending for the long term. We need to reform Social Security, welfare, and further reform healthcare. Essentially, we need to start running this country like a company that sells social benefits, not like a charity that can print money. The goal every year should be to gain money to lower the deficit without compromising the people. We need to reduce the rate at which people take advantage of welfare. It's disgusting how many people use it for drug money, a way to scrape by without working, or discounted luxury items. These are just a few issues, and it would take years of individual research in innumerable categories and, after legislation passes, further trial-and-error to find the right balance of input and output, but I'm sure it's possible. What this country needs is a massive social reform. I would have to dedicate over a decade to this to even know how to begin, but I know it is possible to change our attitude, and eventually actions, toward government.
No, I'm saying that, by definition neither the upper or middles classes are suffering considerably, certainly not in the US
He's saying the middle class pays for everything, when really, the rich have the highest bracket.
He's saying the middle class pays for everything, when really, the rich have the highest bracket.

How do you think the upper class feels?

Yeah, the middle class is the one that's suffering. Everyone else is cosy
Baw [del]I[/del] my daddy only has 2.5 million instead of 2.9 million I'm suffering!
He's saying the middle class pays for everything, when really, the rich have the highest bracket.
They also have far more money to pay higher taxes.
you didn't read and the image cites the debt bureau
The image also says the debt in dollars. You people who keep screaming that Reagan had the highest tax rates forget about how the dollar was valued so poorly during that time, that it cost more to do the same thing.
They also have far more money to pay higher taxes.
Someone who makes 8 grand a year now, will be taxed 400 more dollars a year from this tax hike, to 1200 in income tax alone. The poor people are the people who will suffer from this, especially considering their bracket is increased the most proportionally, and the rich pay the most taxes. I don't understand why people even mention the middle class. What are you trying to argue?
Who was the president for the majority of the last decade?
Stop judging politics by the actions of a single person. Yes, Bush was a god awful President, but one man =/= every person in his political party.
Baw [del]I[/del] my daddy only has 2.5 million instead of 2.9 million I'm suffering!
And the poor people are saying the same thing about the middle class. Especially considering most americans fit in the 25% bracket, you guys only get a 3% increase, the poorest get a 5% increase and the richest get a 4.6% increase. If anyone should complain it shouldn't be the middle class.
When will you people get that America hates taxes. Our country's revolution was started in part by over-taxation by the Monarchy. Plus, the Founding Fathers intended the Federal Government to be nothing more but a representation of all the states, which were viewed as independent nations under one banner of unity. My point is, I don't want to give my money away to a government that spends exorbitant amounts of money, no matter who is president. Bush spent money on the war, Obama is spending even more amounts of money on stimulus. When will the spending end? In the past two years, the deficit has gone up nearly 2 trillion dollars.
noooooooooooo the problem was taxation without representation
The image also says the debt in dollars. You people who keep screaming that Reagan had the highest tax rates forget about how the dollar was valued so poorly during that time, that it cost more to do the same thing.
Apparently bush had the highest tax rates
Apparently bush had the highest tax rates
What?
Someone who makes 8 grand a year now, will be taxed 400 more dollars a year from this tax hike, to 1200 in income tax alone. What are you trying to argue?
I don't think you get what I'm saying, I have no sympathy for upper or middle-class people complaining about taxes. They have no reason to complain when there are people far worse off than them.
What?
look the bush bars are bigger than the reagan ones.
The image also says the debt in dollars. You people who keep screaming that Reagan had the highest tax rates forget about how the dollar was valued so poorly during that time, that it cost more to do the same thing.
you could use that same argument today
I don't think you get what I'm saying, I have no sympathy for upper or middle-class people complaining about taxes. They have no reason to complain when there are people far worse off than them.
Exactly, I think we are on the same page.

I thought the biggest tax hike in history was under the Reagan administration?
Apparently bush had the highest tax rates
Yes, because after the 2001 technology bubble burst, the US dollar began a decline in value, so it cost more to do the same things as it did in the 90s, when America was leading the world in new technology. [editline]06:14PM[/editline]
look the bush bars are bigger than the reagan ones.
And this is why the public education system has failed. [editline]06:15PM[/editline]
I thought the biggest tax hike in history was under the Reagan administration?
Rule 0 of the internet: Dont let facts get in the way of a good argument.
Rule 0 of the internet: Dont let facts get in the way of a good argument.
What do you mean? Economics is not my strong-suit, I'm almost certain the highest tax hike was under Reagan.
What do you mean? Economics is not my strong-suit, I'm almost certain the highest tax hike was under Reagan.
The chart would seem to suggest it was Bush (take your pick :))
Funny how the government uses the middle class to pay for social programs yet the upper class gets off with very reasonable tax rates.
Funny how the government uses the middle class to pay for social programs yet the upper class gets off with very reasonable tax rates.
Nop. read the thread.
someone earning $400,000 a year is very different from someone earning $4 million.
Except 400k and 4m salaries are in the same tax bracket. :raise:
